This has a tremendous amount to do with the fanbase here constantly bashing miles, as well as the negative media spin on him (which for the record is what they do to gain ratings when they know there is controversy at a school).

The actual deal is that screwups happen all the time in coaching, but they are not scrutinized like they are at lsu. A couple weeks ago, spurrier was horrible in his clock management at the end of the kentucky game....it cost them the game....if that had been miles...wow. In last years BCS NC Game...both saban and brown fricked up royaly. Saban for going for a fake punt at his own end of the field for 4th adn 26 (didn't work) and Brown for trying to score with a back-up qb with less than a minute to play in the first half (resulted in bama td).

Point is that it happens at all schools, just not scrutinized as much as LSU. Is les a great coach when game is on the line? well yes and no. there have been many games where he has made some call that saved our arse...those times go unappreciated......but then there have been some screw ups as well. I honestly believe crowton is a huge liability, and that jefferson also does not help matters. Imo, jj is just not bright enough or I should say a quick enough thinker, and crowton is clueless in building an offense around what he does best...but would rather stick to what CROWTON wants to accomplish in a game.

BTW, I was called an idiot, gramps...etc....well, I'm getting old at 43....but do have an MBA from LSU, and fwiw some of those 25-30 range women still love to hang with a well-to-do old timer like me......

Dude...I like your post but this ineptitude on offense has got to be corrected. I understand there will be peaks and valleys in a program and at some point you will have to re-load, etc. But we have had some outstanding recruiting classes at LSU with top notch skill players that we just haven't been able to utilize because of the weak OL and QB positions. It's up to the coaches to develop schemes that work with the talent base available to them. This has not happened over the last 2 years under Miles and Crowton. Miles deserves a lot credit for the accomplishments you mentioned, but this offense is just painful to watch. I just find myself waiting for the next pick, bad pass, fumble, penalty, etc. Wherever the blame lies...Miles, Crowton, the players, Aleva...FIX IT. I'm just a fan. But what I'm seeing right now is not very entertaining.

You are probably right and not afraid to admit when I'm wrong....just that a lot of these ridiculous posts come from college aged kids that honestly don't have a clue other than the last few years of watching football. That is a stereotype I should probably stay away from. I'm sure there are many younger individuals that get it.....and at the same time there are many older ones that don't. For the record, I just finised the MBA program at LSU 3 years ago....so I've been in the mix despite being a "gramps" at 43.

You can knock Saban all you want, but he's won 2 1/2 NC's in less than 10 years.

How can you be 43 years old and think that LSU runs a boring, old big 10 offense?

you should have developed some football knowledge over the course of your time.

Let me add to my previous post...I remember that Cholly Mac had some fantastic defensive teams, defensive all-americans, and those guys were just plain butt-kickin Louisiana boys...but his offenses were terrible...how many people on here, off the top of there heads can recall 3 QB's from Coach Mac's teams? Excluding Bert Jones, of course. But I will give Coach Mac props for NOT playing down to our competition...

Totally agree. Listen, crowton will be gone after this year. This I already know, just leave it at that. I think Gary probably can excel with the right qb, but he has shown no ability to adjust with what we have to work with. In addition, he seldom adjusts to what works in a game. He has an agenda and sticks to it, regardless of what is working. I knew going into the auburn game they would try and shorten the game and run the ball, despite auburn having a pretty decent run defense...and poor pass defense.....just didn't take advantage of what they had to offer.

But, to sum it up....this offense is simply terrible, and despite what people say, it is crowton. It is sad that we probably have at least 4-5 future nfl guys on the field on offense at the same time on most plays, and can't mount any type of decent offense.

That was one game this year. Let's be honest, the reason Les has all this negative media is because he's become notorious for clock management issues. IE: More than one game.

I completely agree. But Les is the head coach. Ultimately, the decision to start JJ or not is his. Why is JJ still starting? Why?

three yards, cloud of dust, play defense.....miles obviously wants to play conservative, run the ball, and play defense and keep games close. I understand that the best championship offenses are a power game of running the ball with play action pass....it is what has proven to work over all times of football.....combined with strong defense. BUT, we have taken out the play action part, and our passing game results in short sideline throws....etc....that don't open the offense up vertically. JJ can't do it. Lee, although not given much of a chance, quite possibly could. We don't know for sure yet, but what we do know is that JJ can't, and his 100th plus offensive ranking for two years running is proof of that.

LSU RARELY runs playaction and we certainly aren't a power running team.

Did you even watch the Auburn game?

LSU is no longer an I-formation team

why is it stupidity to demand greatness from all aspects of the team regardless of the history of the program? I want the team to compete for a championship every year... I don't care if it is realistic or not.

Would you consider Coach Les Miles to consistently produce greatness on the offensive scheme and game plan? Even if you give him one or two years to "fix" the offensive struggles, this is the third year of HORRIBLE offense. I truly hope it is Crowton, and Crowton gets fired and LSU can play a complete game with a new OC.

If Les is only a great recruiter, why does LSU pay close to $4mil for someone who is not producing greatness in all aspects? And if you consider him a great recruiter then why can't he recruit to fill the most important position? Athletes are only great when someone can get them the ball.

Wins and Losses are all that matter, but it's the detail that produces champions. LSU has obviously not payed attention to the detail to WIN the SEC since 2007 because there are other coaches out there who win at the same rate as LSU, but pay attention to the details to win championships!!!

I am hoping that LSU can find an answer on offense, and win out with the possibility for a championship, but if the last the years are any indicator of finding a solution, then consider me a nega-tiger!!!!

I honestly don't see all of SC's games.....but believe it or not...this happens everywhere...it happened at texas last year in the conference championship game......

I can tell you this....the tenn thing was a cluster *&^%.....I do think that was all crowton trying to get too cute and not having enough time to sub.....and with no timeouts...it's kind of hard for les to change the play midstream....it's one of those "oh shits"......miles is hc yes...but crowton killed him there....in the Ole Miss game.....the last second was not what anyone on here or the media made it out to be.....there was simply no way to get a play off...the clock HAD to start again after a first down, and with one second left....once the ref signaled to wind the clock...it's over...clock it or run it...didn't matter. The playcalling leading up to that was horrendous and cost us the opportunity at victory.....again crowton...with little help of JJ throwing the ball away instead of taking sack. Could les override? sure....

Those are two instances in several years...some of the other times were bs.....saying the penn st game was clock mgmt was bs....the player of penn st was laying on the ball and there should have been a penalty on them for delay of game.

There have also many many instances where lsu won in the last second and had great clock management.... but that goes unmentioned.

If we don't try to explain why, can we at least be pissed that the offense has been ranked in the hundreds the last two years? I DO agree that most on this board have a pretty low football IQ.

Doubt that they beat 'Bama with a "pitiful" offense, which is what it is.

Didn't say we were, said this is what championship offenses do and what we should be doing. This read spread bs from crowton is just that...bs....I would have no problem with a mix of the wildcat in there....with ware or sheppard.....but until we get back to what we should be running, we will struggle. People love to see those wide open offenses....but generally, when they go up against a talented D, they don't work.....power run with play action pass....about the only offense that works against all d.
