So if he only committed 3 offenses why shouldn't he be allowed to comeback?

If the decision was based on TM not wanting to sit out a year and after a few days of reflection TM decides he wants to take his punishment why is that a problem?

exactly, LSU has absolutely nothing to lose by doing this and both parties have a lot to gain

Make him the honorary pecker checker for the entire year during all urinalysis tests. Having him look at all them ding dongs would have to make him see the light.

Obviously not just three offenses. #3 and however many more likely swept under the rug

under terms that pose absolutely zero distraction to his team trying to win a NC

Miles also clearly used the word "YES" in the presser when asked if it was "permanent"

In response to one of the first questions.

If LSU's specific policy calls for his suspension based on the circumstances, then I support it. If there's any leeway, I would say:
1. a yr suspension
2. pay his own way for 1 yr
3. complete rehab during that time
4. submit to random drug testing during the yr
5. return to the team w/ regular drug tests

The only reason I would allow his return after these conditions is that he did something stupid & illegal that hurt himself. He didn't hurt others in this behavior. I never wanted to see Hallman bring back Jay Johnson after he burglarized dorm rooms or see DiNardo allow Cecil Collins come back after he broke into an apt & sexually assaulted a woman.

We can play this game all day. There is no evidence supporting he failed more than 3 test. In fact I think by Mathieu stating( haven't seen anything official) that he wants to come back and serve his one year suspension it is bc it was his 3rd failed test.

We can play devils advocate though. If he failed 8 test and LSU hid that from NCAA mathieu could have either used that to his advantage to NEVER have been suspended for a year or as leverage to be allowed to come back right?

And I guess he was kicked off for having an overdue library book.

With compliance officers I would think covering up drugtest results would be one of the stupidest things a program could do. Lord knows no one wants to get punished like USC.

It's pretty easy to do. Coach sends him for an outside drug test with the results sent to the coach. Tests positive, coach talks to him saying this one is not on the record. It is really like it never happened. One would be naive to think this is not done North, South, East, West. CFB is serious business

LSU or any other school could do that but the NCAA mandated test is the only one that counts.

I guess you are saying if USC tested players privately and they fail they should treat them as if they were performed by the NCAA? Do you really believe players at USC don't smoke weed?

At this point to allow him to linger at LSU is a distraction for the team and they need to part ways. Let him go
