USC coach Clay Helton has spoken to Ed Orgeron about a return to the Trojans as defensive line coach. Orgeron, currently an assistant with LSU, is interested, according to sources. Any deal could be contigent on whether athletic director Pat Haden approves on Orgeron returning and nothing will probably be determined until after LSU’s season is over.

Oh and Jimbo Fisher is coming to LSU. Don't worry about rumors!

Not sure why he'd go back, unless he's worried about Les getting canned which means he could be out. However, any incoming coach would likely want to keep him. Hayden denied O the head coach job after doing a great job as a interim. O was pissed about getting shafted. I can't see him going back to the guy that said he wasn't worthy for a lateral move.

USC gave him the shaft. I don't see him going back for another dose. That program's AD is more screwed up than ours.

Or we could take his own words and believe those.

He isn't leaving.

Of course he is "interested." That's how you get a raise. Closed mouths don't get fed.

Gordy Rush on BR radio yesterday said this move is unlikely. Coach O and Pat Haden do not get along, he's still being paid by USC, and I think has a son coming to LSU next year (tennis or swimmer, not sure).

Here's what Coach O had to say:

On other jobs...
quote:

I’m happy here. Actually, me and my family talked. It would have to be an outstanding head job at a Top Five school. I don’t think that’s going to happen right now. I think I need to earn my stripes here at LSU and see what happens down the road. I’m not looking to leave to be an assistant anywhere else. I’m happy to be at LSU. I think it’s one of the best jobs in the country.
