If we have another year like this one then he should be fired. the times have a changed and the stakes are too high in the sec. patience and loyalty will put you in the cellar (see tennessee). its not fair and not right but its the way it is. i say 9-3 next year or miles must go.

Exactly, he makes way too much in salary to be a mediocre coach and recruiting the talent LSU gets. Ashamed he let Jefferson sit on the bench
for all but 1 l/2 games. Obviously very talented
and could have taken pressure off Lee. We would have atleast beaten Ole Miss & Arkansas with him and Lee. Now the SEC is getting really amped up more talented coaches across the board. Miss State got Florida's Off. Coord. as head coach. So
Miles, has to compete in a tough conference with excellent coaches and his pay is equal to those he competes with, Saban, Meyer, Petrino, Spurrier, Nutt, Richt and now these new talented guys at Tenn & State. Can he perform in this arena, we will see in another season.

He still has to prove himself, because he walked into a already built great program. He doesn't have the privilege to tear it down in a matter of a few seasons with all the talent he has to coach well.

The truth is we don't know how Miles will line up with these other super star SEC coaches. This is still new to him and LSU doesn't need to be
the kindergarten for SEC coaches.

This would have been a great post the day LSU hired Miles. Where the fsvk have you been for the last several years?

tigerbait2 - No

I agree +1000

The rest defending a +$3.7 M coach (annually) in the SEC, you all need to read this - [link=(MFV - tigerbait2 - No

Again +1000%

You have to be one of the DunceCOs or a female relative of his for you to be trying to bail him out!!!

What? Miles still needs to prove himself? Luck? I'm pinching myself here.

There is no way Miles deserves to lose his job after next year unless they go winless in the SEC, which won't happen.

His long term stability, however, depends to some degree on the nature of the people he works for. Alleva is at this point an unknown quantity. Would he resist booster pressure to fire a coach? Would he bend to it? Or would he actively carry out their wishes? How about Lombardi? Who the football coach is ought to be below his pay grade, but he has never been shy about involving himself in anything that pleases him.

So how Miles ultimately leaves LSU, whether it's being fired, leaving for another job, a mutual decision to part, or if he coaches here long enough to retire, depends greatly on things that he has absolutely no control over.

Miles is now the longest tenured coach at his school in the SEC West.
