he actually has had worse D's than malvetto for 3 of the last 5 years. at least if you go by total D rankings

if he fires him then it pretty much shows miles is full of shite when he says he likes an aggressive approach to D

It was Chavis' read and react D that choked the game away to UCLA this year. I'm telling you guys that he gets criticized for the same thing that Malloryveto and Pelini got criticized for. Read and react Big 10 D. He is probably a slight upgrade but it is basically the same scheme.

its just about the exact same scheme.

Yeah so exact that this year Tenn stopped people and we didnt.

Chavis has actually coached a team to a NC......got quality players to produce big time results.....

It's really not even close.

Tenn's D has never been their problem. They lost Cutcliffe and lost their edge ever since.

This is the nail in the coffin for Miles IMO if he hires Chavis. Chavis= sucks

Don't really know if He would be my first call or not but if you go to the Vol message boards such as volnation they all love the guy! I know when he had the talent they were awsome but I really don't think he has much to work with lately.

If this comes to pass, Urban Meyer will certainly be chuckling. He has torched that Chavis D the last few years.

95% of the people that comment on our defense and personnel and scheme have no idea what they are even watching.

We can blitz, and not get to the QB, and they think we arent blitzing.

some actually think our DL is taught not to rush upfield.

shite someone thought Chad Jones plays LB the other day when he is the dime back

thought he ran some form of the 30-stack D? i don't know that we have the lb's or safeties for that type D anyway.

So just because they managed to stop people THIS ONE YEAR, the scheme was different? You're a fricking moron.

Chavis' rank in total defense lately

2004 #45
2005 #7
2006 #50
2007 #70

The only way to beat Tebow is to follow the forumala LSU used last year. You can't hold UF with Tebow to less than 20 and if you do......you've probably played your best game defensively of the last decade.

Like in 2001 when Albert Haynesworth and John Henderson couldn't stop a QB draw.

If you call me a moron or a ranter again I'm gonna hunt down your trumpet toating arse and shove it up it. You don't know me band boy.

The guy has coached at Tennessee since 95. Do you know how long Tennessee remained at the top the SEC in D under his watch.

STFU. Tennessee offense has been wretched since 2000. Hard to put up gaudy stats on D when you are constantly on it.

I really wish we could keep this thread strictly about whether he is actually getting the job and leave the issue of whether he is a good hire to the other 20 threads on that topic.

hahaha The formula was to go for every 4th down bc we couldn't stop their offense. We ran the same shite against them this year. Lsu showed the formula of how to get burnt all game. Ole miss showed you the formula to stop florida
