The problem that I see is now Les is going to have to win with his recruits and not Nick's. And right now, it isn't looking too good!

this was the first game i left early since 96 (as a student, escorted out). Yesterday it was 24-3, and i was in the SEZ in a frozen state.

What people think of us as fans

....I didn't go to the game, BUT I did keep listening to Hawthorne refusing to just turn it off. Glad I kept listening.

I honestly understand why people did leave though......right or wrong.

Same here. Every week it is the same ole pissing match "I am better than the SS, a guy behind me farted and it was horrible! what is the fan base coming to farting like this!, I stayed the WHOLE time we were getting it handed to us, I stayed the whole time we were blowing so-and-so out" The holier than thou mentality on here is amazing.

Well I have been to an LSU game and I don't care what you think because the opinion of anyone who can defend or condone the negative behavior of many LSU fans is irrelevant.

The article was right on target. Many LSU fans define "fair-weather". They complain when the team wins and complain when the team loses. They complain when the team appears to have quit but only after they quit on the team and either left early of gave up emotionally.

Their defense is that they paid for the tickets and can do whatever they want. That is true, but you can't leave early and bash the team and still claim to be a fan.

It is either or, but not both.

This is the same for every damn fanbase in the nation.

The other half of our fans are a breed of stick your head in the sand and any problems will disappear idiotic moron who accept mediocrity. This is also true of every fanbase.

Get the frick over it LSU's fanbase is no different than any other.

25000 at the end...sounds like about 1 in 3 fans hung in there. This kind of reminds me of going to church...is it a social event...or are you there to do something else? Faith pays its own reward.

That, in no way, makes it right or acceptable

We could be better but choose to accept and defend inappropriate behavior.

You're wrong. Not every other stadium empties out at half-time...and even if it did, LSU doesn't have to.

Who cares if everyone else is doing it? No one will disagree the atmosphere of the program would be much better if the fans supported the team, didn't boo players and stayed at the game for 4 quarters. If everyone is doing it (as you say), why not set our program apart from the rest by doing the opposite? That seems too logical.

The fans can do very little to control the outcome on the field. What they can control is supporting the team through thick and thin and filling the stadium every week. This would promote a positive environment around the program and really help recruiting. When our fan base decides to not do these things, it tells me they really don't care if the team wins or loses. So at that point, how can anyone question the players or coaches not doing their large and difficult part when the fans can't even take care of their very small and easy part?

You have to realize if some top program was getting blown out by Troy, they probably would have left also.

Yep, and check this other article, pre-game:

quote:

2. LSU is going to wish they played Troy earlier in the season.

Don't get me wrong: I'm not predicting Troy to win. I'm just saying LSU is down right now, and Troy's offense (430 yards per game) may prove a lot trickier to this LSU team than it would have in Week Two, when these teams were supposed to play (before Hurricane Ike postponed the game).

Over the past 10 weeks, Troy's offense has gotten better, and LSU's defense has become a little inconsistent. The game is at LSU, which is obviously a huge plus, but Troy will be a thorn in LSU's side for the better part of this game.

They don't! The swamp doesn't empty out even when Florida is 50 pts ahead! This didn't always happen at LSU either.

I and my family of six stayed until the Tigers entered the locker room. True Tiger fans never leave until the clock reads ZERO. No one liked the way we were manhandled in all phases, especially the players. In all fairness to some of those who left early, in my sixty two years of watching LSU football, I have never seen as many young children attending the game. Families left early because the wind chill factor was 38 degrees.

50 points ahead is much different than getting blown out and possibly witnessing the worst loss in school history.
Edit: I think booing a non paid athlete is much, much worse.

it was unreal mid part of 3rd quarter, my entire section was damn near empty. We could have laid down on the benches. Glad I was able to witness the comeback. It was my friend from California, first visit into Tiger Stadium I was embarassed. At least he got to see history from the team.
