16 team power conference is too large, a west and east division makes sense but you really need a better 12 team playoff. Having other weak conferences get a bye is wrong. Conference champs should get an automatic invite but not a first round bye. There are many SEC teams that did not make the playoffs because they had a tough SEC schedule. Teams like South Caroline, Ole Miss, Texas AM and LSU would be favorite over several of the 12 invited schools. I would not give as much credit to schools with weak schedules! Maybe have one or two play in games?
