If he wants to prove his worth, he gets on the phone with Dan McDonnell, offers him to be the highest paid coach in NCAA baseball, and gets his arse to Baton Rouge.

McDonnell reveres the LSU program deeply from his time at Ole Miss. Ive heard him on the radio here in nashville on 3 occasions say how he is trying to get Louisville to the prestige LSU has.

In your eyes what does PM need to do to keep his job?

If it were up to me, he needs to host a regional at the least.
To be fair i think he did one of his best coaching jobs last year.
I also think he and woodward are pretty tight from the past, so it mag be tougher to let PM go for him

like most years the talent at LSU is too good for them to completely bomb. Much like it was with Les Miles. It's going to be tough to fire PM. But i love McDonnell

DM has an impressive 13 years at UL.

He’s now 50 years old, wonder how many more years does he have?

Would he want to be the guy coming in after PM?

Would he leave the ACC where he only has to worry about UVA, UNC, FSU & Miami to be in an SECW where he has 5 other successful programs just in his division?

Certainly worth a call.

He also hired Johnny Jones. If he didn’t botch the Will Wade situation he would probably be a hero right now

To be fair most of us wanted Jimbo. Looking at it now I think it’s going to be a bad hire for A&M.

So what you are saying is that "most of us" on the rant are stupid?

Hell, Wayne Graham and Augie Garrido coached until they were 80, though they were like Weekend at Bernie’s toward the end. I doubt many people these days with these salaries want to coach that long anymore, but baseball has always had a culture of older hated coaches in college and managers in MLB. So I don’t think DM’s age is much of a factor.

However, I think Paul’s may be. He’s only 62, and though the last couple of years since his dad passed seem to have taken a toll, he’s a pretty young 62. And I know he desperately wants that 2nd CWS title. I’m not sure he’s gonna gracefully transition out of the LSU dugout. But this is premature anyway. If our pitching stays healthy, we are gonna make a run to Omaha.

What? Paul’s been very successful, but he ain’t Skip.

He may not want to leave Louisville, but it ain’t gonna be because he’s scared of Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

He did what he had to do to get Jimbo, because that’s what the boosters wanted. He made it happen. Very questionable contract, yes, but he was dealing with a desperate group of delusional Aggies. That contract is exactly what I’d expect from that group.
