I think they know that Aranda's and several of their other key starters' loss will be huge. They don't have a proven QB, and their defense matches up poorly against our offense (both in ability and in size). I actually thought the spread would have been a little bigger.

On a side note, I do believe this year may be the Return of the Tigers Defense. I don't know that anyone will match up with our defense, God willing that everyone stays healthy. But that's why games are played, and We Shall See.

You guys are just pulling stuff out of thin air in this thread. First of all, this team will be better than last year. The OL was a cluster**** due to injuries and youth. Much better this year. Our marquee RB missed the entire season. He's back, and we've got improved depth behind him.

Badgers are deep and talented at LB, and the DL is very good; big, strong, experienced.

Not predicting Badgers will win, but there' no doubt that we're built to defend a power running team. It's not going to be 50 - 0 at half time.

Did anybody watch the App. State/Tennessee game last night? Go back and look at the Volunteer board and chuckle over their asinine predictions of a blowout.

Sorry bud, but your Badgers are getting their asses whipped tomorrow. You're right, it won't be 50-0 at halftime, but it will be close to that at the end of the game. This isn't the 2014 Tigers.

We will see how long it takes until Aranda realizes that he has the cornerbacks to go man up and literally everyone else is in the box.

Pretty sure Aranda already knows he has the corners to man up against Wisconsin's receivers.

i tend to agree with you. but i also would have assumed that Pelini (if memory serves me right) would have known this ahead of time as well.

I thought this was going to be a close game and it still might be but then I remembered where we got Our new defensive coordinator from. Huge advantage

m posting because I drove 22 hours straight to Madison. Can't sleep because of lack of sleep and excitement for game. Hoping that the locals' lack of confidence in the Badgers transfers into an impressive opening weekend for the good guys.

Hope you get plenty of sleep. This is a marathon, not a sprint!!!!

Lets tap the brakes a little bit on all this blowout talk. Wisconsin was a 10 win team from a year ago, even with the losses to graduation they still have some good players. We certainly have the better roster, but I would never take lightly a 10 win team with tradition and pride playing at home

That said, I think LSU wins

Valentine, Gilmore and Devon G on the field at the same time. Would love to see this, clog that middle and force them outside to be eaten up by Key, Beck, Divinity, and Bower. Shut down their run and we win by a wide margin.

A blowout can happen but likely won't. It's the first game and we usually struggle in the first game especially away. We will see what happens but I think it's going to be closer than originally thought. 38-10 if we have a perfect game but in reality it's probably going to be more like 24-17. GT

If it was 107.5 in GB, none of those guys know crap about UW sports. They know their Packers football but certainly not UW football.

All kidding aside I say LSU scores 5 touchdowns in the first half

I love the confidence that comes with the first game of a new season. Miles is still the coach, so LSU isn't scoring 5 TD's before halftime.

The locals' thinking is that Wisky's offense can't matchup with LSU's defense.

They know what Aranda could do with midlevel talent. Now he has elite talent to work with.

The LSU offense lives or dies by its ability to wear down a defense. Because of that I do not expect to be up big at halftime, but by the 4th quarter I expect us to be firmly in control of the game.

I'll say again, that these are two different teams from 2014.

Defense
Melvin Gordon vs two first time starting DTs (one a true sophomore, one a true freshman), Welter was the MLB, and there was no Jamal Adams as a run stopper.

Offense
First year starter in true sophomore Jennings who is now at ULL. First year starting and/or playing WRs (a redshirt sophomore, redshirt freshman, and 2 true freshmen). First game for true freshman Fournette, and first game of a new zone blocking scheme ran by the OL.

The situations are just completely different. The Wisconsin passing will be much better, simply because McEvoy isn't the QB , but they lose any running advantage there that they got from the 2014 game. Clement is FAR from Gordon (seriously I don't know a Wisconsin back that matches up), and is about equal to Williams our 3rd string RB. The biggest however, is that we have Aranda now. You don't think that he has lent the LSU offensive staff ideas from stopping the guys he's coached the past 3 years???

ETA: My homer pick is 56-13 LSU win, but my realistic pick is 38-17 LSU win.

I'm not saying it will be 50-0 at half time. it will take us well into the 3rd quarter to get to 50-0.

Wisconsin was a 10 win team last year because they didn't play any of the top 5 teams in the other division. Any of the big 3 in the other division would have handed them a loss, and the other 2 would have challenged them. They'll be lucky to be 7-5 this year when you check out their brutal schedule.

My concerns for LSU is learning a new system on D. I love the Aranda hire, but sometimes it takes awhile. Also relatively no proven depth in the front seven. Many of the 2nd team guys have never taken a college snap, although several will be in the rotation and heck LSU is starting a true freshman. Newbies were great for the recruiting rankings this year, but many will have to step up and hopefully they will do so, but we have all seen guys that are now highly thought of struggle initially for a few games and some simply do not pan out.

If any offense understands the Aranda touch, it is this one. The game is at Green Bay. Many of their players probably have dreamed about playing there, while the Tiger players probably think.... well this is cool. These last two could cut both ways to me. Finally, the Wisky defense is pretty good.

Having said all that. I think the Tigers will win and the Badgers have more concerns playing LSU than the other way around!
