Don’t really like using a young man’s tragic death as a rallying cry but that’s just me.

Like the movie The 6th Man.

Agree.
Don't like it, unless the family has fully supported it.

No. If this was an every game thing then yes. Where was this game 1. Just bc you started watching a few games ago does not make it okay to use his passing as a rally cry for a big game. He is here for all games.
Ignore the basketball fan jab I put in there. I don’t know you. You could be a life long fan.

Pulling that card for a big game is pretty terrible.

The Tigers have added patches to their jerseys to honor Wayde, who was set to play an integral part for team off the bench as a forward this season.
For junior guard Skylar Mays the patch is something he said he takes serious pride in. Mays and Sims were teammates at University Lab High School in Baton Rouge, and Mays described Sims as a lifelong friend and a brother.

This ain't something that just started with my thread. Honestly, I think people are forgetting about him this late in the season. His tragic death brought this team together to form an incredible bond. They play every game thinking about #44.

#WinForWade should be everyone's rallying cry this season: a season for this team's fallen but not forgotten teammate. #Forever44

Then you don’t understand:
I was at his funeral. When Skylar viewed Wayde’s body, he completely collapsed in gut wrenching grief. He had to be held up by best friends. The team were together to help him. Started a determination right there.
I went to the thanksgiving tournament in Orlando. I made 2 posters saying “Win for Wayde”. I held them for the players to see as they left the court after warm ups. They nodded solemnly as they went by me.
At the tournament, the entire Oklahoma State basketball team had “44” printed on the back of their warm-up TShirts and wore them for the anthem, standing in line. Very powerful to see.
I was at the Mizzou game. Coach Heiar’s Mom traveled to watch. She has a “44” pin that she told me she wears every time we play. At the end of the game - an emotional win, she was holding the pin, and said, tearfully, that she held it the entire game.
My husband and I got “Wayde 44” printed on the back of some of our T-shirt’s last December and wear them to all home games. Wayde’s parents still attend some home games. His Mom saw us in them. She hugged me, in tears. I told her we had not forgotten him. She took pictures of us showing his name on our shirts. It meant the world to her.
So wearing clothes, holding up posters at games etc. didn’t start yesterday. They’ve been going on all season.
I ask Tiger fans to continue to honor him in any way you can. His passing galvanized this team, if anything positive can come out of this tragedy, it’s this.
His family are grieving, and this acknowledgment of their son’s importance to his team, is helping them.
Thanks for listening.

Awesome Britgirl, thanks for sharing that. I didn't make the OP for #44 with any ill intent. You can tell this team thinks about him all the time. Hell, they even struggled with what to do with his open scholarship before giving it to one of the walk-on's. This whole season is dedicated to #Forever44, not just this one win. I wish the majority of Tiger Fans that just hopped on this B-ball bandwagon would remember his contributions to this team. Let's bring it all home for him.
