If LSU makes it into the tournament, could you please ban yourself?

Also, I think we have the athleticism to hang with Florida, but their house makes it a game that is VERY tough to win. We didn't even win there in 06 (granted that was without Tyrus but still).

I think he's just that miserable of a human being. I've seen him bitching about other LSU sports. He mentioned in one thread about how he likes to take his kid to the LSU soccer games. No telling what kind of negativity that child is exposed to. I'm sure he was contemplating suicide during the 2006 Final Four run.

If we play them 10 times, I think we win 2 or 3. Hope Saturday qualifies as one of those.

I understand what you're saying, I really do. But its called being a fan, short for fanatic. Every fan has extreme highs and lows, including expectations. What's the point in cheering for this team for 4 months if we can't sit here and hope/pray/beg for a win on Saturday against the #1 team in the country? Is it likely to happen? no... not at all. Will it happen? We will find out Saturday afternoon. Until then, I'm going to enjoy the possibility the LSU can win and has an opportunity to find their way into the tourney..... otherwise, I wouldn't call myself a fan.

Very well said and I agree. I tend to be negative/realistic, but you are right. What fun is it to not consider the possibilities? That's the reason they play the game in real life and not on paper. How miserable life would be in general to never have hope.

Are you saying upset Florida on the road, beat Vandy on the road, beat Georgia at home, and LSU could lose their 1st game in the SEC tourney and still go the dance? This can't be possible. They would have to win at least 1 or probably 2 games in SEC tourney, you think?

Yes, I will ban myself from LSU basketball threads, for the rest of the season, if they make the ncaa tourney. Will you ban yourself, for the rest of the season, as well, if LSU doesn't make it to the big dance and instead makes the NIT?

How about you just ban yourself regardless of the outcome? I'd like to propose that idea. You bring quite literally nothing to any discussion. We get it. It's a long-shot for us to make the tourney. We don't need you coming in every thread to reminds us and tell us we're idiots for still following the team.

The Key to Florida game will come down to how the game starts, if the game is back and forth score close or we have a lead we will be fine and have a chance, which against a Florida is all you can ask for. If we get down early and their crowd gets in it I feel like we aren't strong enough mentally as a team to stop the bleeding and the game will snowball in the wrong direction.

Agree completely. Playing in the O'Dome can be a slippery slope. One of the best LSU teams in my lifetime got the floor wiped with them in '99-'00 in Gainesville. Granted, that UF team would go on to make the National Championship before losing to Mich. State.

They are neutral court. Our record on neutral court isnt bad

You know that KY is going to bring a huge number of fans, and Florida right behind them?
Possibly Georgia too.
Neutral floor means nothing if we're up against teams whose fans travel well.

We need to get a large contingent of LSU fans at the Tourney - I'm pretty sure it'll make a big difference to our morale.

My husband & I are going, Atlanta alumni are going.
Anyone else? Hope so, this team needs you.

Not everyone can just up and pop on over to Atlanta for what may be just 1 basketball game

what if we just stay close with Florida? you're talking about the #1 team in the country on their home court. Do that, plus get another road win vs Vanderbilt, then finish out smashing Georgia at home, then make a solid showing in the SEC tourney? That would look pretty good. Don't you think that would get us in?

Tough to say. In that case we'd probably have to make the SECt final. Depends on what the other bubble teams do as well.

Of course I realize that, and all the reasons why most can't go.
But there are people that can, and don't.

Kentucky has the long established tradition and there are many fans that plan for tournament way ahead of time. Sure they have the expectation of going deep, but not last year.

If Kentucky fans can arrange to do that, why not some of us? One day I hope we have more of a traveling tradition.

I'd be interested in knowing what the psyche of the team is currently. How much confidence could they possibly have? They've got to not just hope they can win, but believe it. There have been road games where they looked whupped shortly after tip off. We've proven to be good front-runners with a big lead...maybe UF comes out cold and we can get a 10-14 pt. lead early and build some confidence.
Still very concerned about our post D. Even watching our D in some of the past games I've taped still makes me wanna puke.

You can cheer for a win against UF this Saturday but still need to have the realization that it's going to take more than just that to get into the NCAA Tournament. Yes, that's whats called being a fan.

Who cares? Isn't the best part of being a fan cheering for the unexpected/unlikely and relishing in it when it occurs? Further, I disagree with your tournament statement if the unexpected occurs. A late season win against the #1 overall team in the country should be pretty impressive to the tournament selection committee. If they manage to do this, losing all other remaining games likely won't get us in, but a solid finish should.

quote:

Mathematically, LSU has a small chance of still making the tournament. LSU has continued to get hopes up and have them shattered on the road. Why would the rest of the season be any different?

Agreed, due to having to play the number #1 team in the country on the road as well as this team's inconsistency. They put themselves in this situation, but how great would it be if this team came together to pull off a few impressive wins?

quote:

2-7 on the road is all the proof I need to know this team isn't going to make a run late in the season. Unless it's a four game run in the SEC tournament and they don't have to face UF (Another unlikely outcome)

A barrel of laughs this guy. You free to hang out this weekend? I'm in a relatively good mood currently, I'm sure your outlook and perspective would be good for what ails me.
