There is NOTHING more obvious than how bad the QB"s on this team are!!!!!

IF the staff is realigned and Crowton is demoted to coaching QBs only, and Gonzo is promoted to coordinator maybe that's a change that has some promise (but I admit, not much).

Why in the hell would we want him teaching our QBs? If nothing else is obvious, it's that he can't develop a young quarterback.

if he does indeed keep Crowton?
I would be be disappointed but I would still support Miles because he's LSU's coach and has delivered in terms of wins and losses. Not much else really matters.

So he can focus on teaching them how to play the position, instead of splitting time doing that and scheming. Of course it's arguable the WRs need as much coaching and Gonzo would have to take time away from that. I was suggesting it as a possible non-insane way to retain Crowton, and I admitted it was NOT a "Hey! That's a great idea!" type move.

Now if you are trying to say that you hope the coach succeeds and does well, I am all for it, regardless of who the coach is. But if the coach isn't doing what the University needs, the coach needs to hit the road. No true LSU fan/supporter will put the coach above the well-being of the University

this.

Yes, I will support Miles and any decision he makes about his staff. Why? Because not only does he know more about football than me (and more than ANY person on this board)he knows more about the inner workings of the team, the players and the coaches (and no one on this board knows diddly about those things).

Since he has been here he has been able to attract top quality assistants from day one. Look at his current staff. Chavis could have chosen almost anywhere to go, but hitched his wagon and career to Miles. Ditto for Ron Cooper, Billy Gonzales, Frank Wilson, Brick Haley and even the much reviled Stud.

Assuming assistant coaches have been around a bit and have an opinion on who is a good HC and who isnt, and who would be most beneficial to furthering their own careers, them coming here is as big of an indicator one can have as to how Miles is perceived in the coaching community.

If after he takes EVERYTHING into consideration, he decides that the best chance for success for his team is to keep GC, then I'm for it.

How anyone on here could delude themselves into thinking their little attempts at amateurish coaching uniformed reasoning is superior to Miles is beyond ridiculous to me.

I like and agree with many of the things you said. I'm positive about the team, overall. The recruiting is better than solid - between excellent and outstanding every year Miles has been the head coach. The program has been nearly scandal free since the angry little man moved east. Many of the coaching hires have been either coups or slam dunks. I was extremely high on Crowton when he was hired.

However, to say that we can't point out clear, glaring, everyone-at-every-school-and-all-national-sports-media-people-notice-and-report league problems is to embody all of the homer/pollyanna/sunshine pumping stereotypes the Negatigers and Sabanistas spout about those of us who are very positive about the program.

Much of the usual criticism about Miles is exaggerated, misdirected, and/or unfairly biased. He is kind of a doofus and really connects with his players more than the sports media or fans.

However, to say that the offense does not inspire confidence is an understatement. To say that, based on the talent, resources and support the team has - that the offensive coaching staff has underperformed over the past two seasons is a gross understatement (and, yes I recognize that we won 19 games, with a chance at 20 the past two years - 14 of which are almost exclusively to the credit of defense/special teams). No one is above criticism and no one associated with our football team should be beyond doing everything possible to improve it.

I support Miles. I will reluctantly support his retention of Crowton as OC, but it will be precisely because I have confidence that Miles knows more about the team than I do. I hope it is not misplaced trust/confidence.
