As long as Miles continues to be a class guy running a class program with outstanding overall results, I will support him.

because we had a q.b. that ranked 2 on a scale of 1-10. do you blame crowton for calling plays like that with a "2" for a q.b.?
in fact, if you win 10 games with a "2", it's pretty impressive. I know you remember when we used to call him a wizard when he had a q.b. that at least ranked "7".
1) You need to read that article from the Oregon fan from 2007
2) Crowton's offense did exactly what was predicted in that article from 2007
3) Crowton's offense, after 2 years, is still looking for an identity.
4) In 2007, LSU's offense was struggling against UK with Jacob Hester. We ran Charles Scott and our offense responded. Well guess what, CS disappeared from the offense until OT.
5) See above. What works, Crowton gets away from it. What doesn't work, Crowton sticks with it. This went on for 3 years. That just blows my mind.
6) Crowton should have been fired after the #107 of #117 ranked offense.
7) Crowton does not take advantage of mismatches. UNC with it's depleted secondary. Auburn with it's pourous secondary just to name a few.
8) Crowton very seldom adjusts to our weakness or problems of the day such as when our qbs are getting killed, we seldom counter with quick slants or draws. Still goes with the scripted plays or it seems.
9) Crowton didn't recognize how valuable of a weapon we had with a fired up Tridon Holiday in the 4th quarter vs Penn St in the mud. TH was not struggling with his balance on punt returns and limited offensive plays. TH made big plays with ease and was never allowed to see the field again when we needed him most. Poor OC recognition. If possible, rewatch the 4th quarter and you will see for yourself...No TH = OC fail.
10) When GC left a job for another, the offense he left improved.
11) As predicted by that 2007 article, GC will make our players look bad and confused by the 3rd year and that has happened.
12) I heard on Charles Scott's winning run at UGA, the original call was for JJ to pass and JJ was not comfortable with the call and convince the coaches to let CS run instead. Result TD.
13) Some say our QB's the problem, but there are too much other things wrong that are more obvious. No offensive identity. 107th rank. Crowton's overall resume and so on. I will be very disappointed if we have GC for 2011.

I already question his judgment for not getting rid of his arse last year so it won't change a thing for me. Guess Miles enjoys his arse getting closer to being on the hot seat.

Yep.

So you're saying that you supported Hudson Hallman, the only losing LSU head football coach in the last 90 years?

I will definitely support a 10+ win per season coach. It's a no brainer.

To the OP, yes, he's our coach and I will support him. It's that simple. I don't have to agree with who he retains or let's go within his own staff, but it's his staff. At the end of the day, he's responsible for the decisions and if we're successful, he'll get credit. If we're not, he'll get the heat. So he'll either win with Crowton or lose with him, but it's his choice and I'll support our team and staff.

Depends.
Do we sign Mettenberger?

Will people stop asking aout being a Miles supporter???????????????????????
Any dumb arse that supports the University should support their coaches no matter what......
I think the key words here are "dumb arse". Only a true "dumb arse" specifies a logical equation that support for the University mandates support for the coaches no matter what. Think of the absurdities. Would you support a coach with a well-known proclivity for bestiality? Or sadism?
Ahh, so apparently coaches do not deserve support "no matter what"; support for the University does not equate to support for the "coaches no matter what".
Coaches are employees of the University, there to provide a service by virtue of their expertise to the University. The only loyalty is to the University.
Now if you are trying to say that you hope the coach succeeds and does well, I am all for it, regardless of who the coach is. But if the coach isn't doing what the University needs, the coach needs to hit the road. No true LSU fan/supporter will put the coach above the well-being of the University.

What Victry said.
Crowton needs to go. If Miles can't be objective and see that, then Miles needs to go too.

This x's a million. and he doesn't recognize mismatches.
And for the guy who doesn't understand about Crowton in 2007.. the thing is crowton has a pattern of serious regression after his first season at a school. not just with oregon.. but back to his BYU days.. talk to some BYU fans and see how they feel about ol' gary crowton.

No. It shows two things:
1. He is loyal to a fault
2. He may be able to recruit players, but apparently, can no longer recruit coaches
Pretty much this. If he lets him stay, it's time for him to hit the road as well. I've said this before, and I'll say it again. If he keeps that moron around, he can go on the job hunt with him. We can always find another set of coaches. Neither one of them are irreplaceable. The ONLY reason I want Miles here for next season is just to get this recruiting class in. After next season, I want him to hit the road anyway. I like the guy as a human, but I fricking hate him as a coach. I don't want to say I don't want LSU to succeed next year, but anything that sends Miles packing along with GC would make me quite happy.

should he not be held responsible for our current qb situation?
Crowton is definitely responsible for the lack of development of our QB's, but can only do so much with what he has to work with. I blame Miles and the Recruiting Coordinators for not identifying and signing top notch QB's. Poor talent evaluation. Blame GC for not developing them when they get here.
Part of the problem is Crowtons system which is too complicated and difficult for most college QB's to learn. Too many packages, plays, formations and adjustable reads on the fly. Might work at Stanford, Boise or BYU, but not at LSU.
Assigning assistant coaches to specific geographical areas is really inefficent too. Position coaches should recruit the athletes they are going to coach. Offensive Coordinator/QB
coaches should recruit quarterbacks. Defensive linemen should be recruited by the DL coach and so on. You'd think the WR recruits would like to be recruited by the guy that's going to be coaching them.
quote:
this is crowton third year since flynn left. it's his responsibility to get a qb in here above a "2" as you put it.
Zak "JJ Jr." Prescott to the rescue. They just offered this guy and is apparently the backup plan in case Mettenberger or Rivers decide to go else where.

If Miles really thinks 2 years of being atrocious in offense is satisfactory or that Crowton just doesnt have the right players....then Id really have to wonder about the man's judgement.
Id support LSU as always...but Id also want Miles fired after next year if he keeps Crowton and we get the same results.
His butt would have to be on the chopping block.
