yea, once the coaches realize that keiland williams is a beast and is underutilized
He does not excel at running in traffic. Love the guy, just sayin'.

So much hoopla about who, what, when, where and why. Lets get yards and first downs and win a ton of games. Great guns dudes. The coaches makes decisions to win.

I just don't know if there is a complete back in the group who has it all.
When people discuss the various strengths of our RBs, sometimes others get the impression that the other backs are lacking in that area. Pointing out that Scott is a better power runner does not mean that Keiland is lacking in that area; it only means that Scott is stronger. Likewise with the speed; Murphy may feature his speed more than the other two, but both Keiland and Scott have proven to have more than enough breakaway speed to be a "complete back."

I never understood why so many people criticized the decision to give Hester the bulk of the carries last season.
Of course, I was raised on old-school, up-the-gut football, so I can deal without the flashiness that guys like KW, TH, RM and CS can bring, just so long as we're winning.

This really is nothing more than an question of what you mean by "featured 'go to' back"? There are many different ways to view that, as has been demonstrated in this thread.
One way to define it is one back that gets the vast majority (like 75%+) of the carries throughout a season. I'm not sure when the last time LSU had a workhorse like that was (maybe Faulk in '96?), but it is highly unlikely to happen again anytime in the near future. As others have pointed out, that would require a situation where we are so thin at RB only one guy is available that can carry it or a situation where we have one guy that is just so absurdly better than all the rest that it never makes since to share the carries. With the number and quality of running backs at LSU, it is highly unlikely either of those situations will be seen anytime soon.
Another way of looking at it is one RB getting over half the carries. That situation is somewhat more plausible but still unlikely given the number and quality of our backs.
Or, you could consider it simply as one back that gets significantly more carries than any one other back and is consistently the guy we turn to in bigtime situations. That would only require one back to shine and get into a rhythm that the coaches get comfortable with (like Hester last year, Keiland towards the end of '06, and Addai in '05). Given Miles' history, it seems likely that if any of Keiland, Scott or Murphy can separate themselves appreciably from the rest they would earn that kind of role.

2003:
Justin Vincent - 154 car. 1,001 yds. 6.5 ypc. and 10 td's.
Joe Addai - 114 car. 520 yds. 4.6 ypc. 2 td's.
hmmm. how did it work out for JV being the "featured" back.
