Bottom line is the coach is setting the culture he wants for HIS program.
This.
It ain't about a student enduring harsh treatment for smoking weed, it's about a scholarship athlete (all of them being defacto ambassadors for LSU) guilty of conduct unbecoming.
Very unbecoming.

it's unfair to the players that they are held to a higher standard than the general student population
It isn't unfair. They are not an average student on campus. They represent the university. Is it ok for the President of the University to smoke weed on the regular because he is an employee just like the janitor and the janitor smokes? Different people within an organization should be held to different standards based on their position and responsibility.

SOME schools have more lenient policies and give the kids a "heads-up" before a drug test in case they need to "study".
So we should give leniency because some schools do it? ok, great idea

more and more states legalizing it is inevitable that it's only a matter of time until we stop harrassing athletes over failed marijuana drug tests.
But it's currently not legal federally and some states (i.e. Colorado) are just a bit nervous about the states ability to prosecute it if they want to. Sports will catch up when it becomes a legal drug in the United States as a whole.

Wade jettisons two non-contributing bad apples.
From Wade’s presser it sounds like Galen is gone for good but if Mayan stays on the straight and narrow, he’ll be allowed back.

I have you in the celebrity death pool this year. I have no idea how you are still alive.

That is also what I took from that. And I have to think Sims and Rachal have to be on strike 2 at this point, with one more frick-up being the end of the line for each.

Well I do recall that when Poppa Sims was here years ago, he was caught having drunkingly fallen asleep at the wheel of his car that was in Park with the engine running

Can't you understand that I agree with you. I quoted someone else who said that. You should take a reading lesson or two before using expletives to call someone a moron.

Rachal, Kir, and Galen were all mid major type players.
Strongly disagree with Rachel being included in that group. He's a four year toughness energy program player. Probably never all conference but definitely a contributor.
Both Alexander and Rachal were 4 star guys and both also had multiple big time offers for full ride scholarships. Meaning that many coaches, scouts, and anyone around power 5 programs felt that these kids were not only worth spots on rosters for major programs but were also expected to be at the very least major contributers for these programs. Where you possibly get that these kids were just mid major quality players at best is basically just pulling your dumb opinion out of thin air. Amazing how people posting on message boards think they have some sort of inside info or the experience grading and scouting players that makes them more knowledgeable about how these kids will pan out and where they should or could be capable of playing in terms of the level of program they end up going to. What a stupid opinion. Thank God for people like the first detractor for such stupidity like the guy who claims they were no more than mid major level players. So freaking dumb

Whether right or wrong, a first year coach must be more forceful than a coach with a history.

Who was it said "truth is treason in an empire of lies"?
