Would be a travesty to force that much weight onto his 6'1" frame

to go from 195 to 240 lbs is going to affect what makes him so special right now

I think it could be awesome if he would play both. Look at Isaiah Simmons who just won the Butkus at Clemson. He has lined up all over the place this year. If Brooks can play anything like that then his versatility will be a tremendous asset to the defense. Being able to switch from LB to safety with some pass rush mixed in means that you can avoid mismatches and disguise coverages and blitzes.

Do you have some official snap count to back this up?

no, but i look at the personnel before every snap. He only comes in on passing situations in the neighborhood of 3 & 7 or longer.

5 snaps is hyperbole though. Just depends on the game flow. If they are passing a lot trying to come back, he is playing.

My main point is he is strictly a situation player. He cannot play on run downs.

He'll play the hybrid role. Similar to JaCoby Stevens

would love to see him a safety too but they tried him there and O said it wasn’t best for him

Stevens is pretty much a glorified LB though. I want to see the guy in space. He just moves so well. I think it's a risk to try and force him into a rush OLB.

I think a kid like him can cover TE and RBs and even WR's in time.

Seems believable enough

I could see him playing on run downs if we faced a team with a perimeter run attack but we haven't really seen much of that

Lb Shaq Thompson is a good comp and he’s doing pretty well for the panthers, was a safety/lb out of Washington, and is playing at 224lbs in the nfl ,also only listed at 6”0 but I think he measured 5” 11 and some change at the combine.
