Love how Les found time to meet with each returning player, flew to RR's house, flew to RS's house, yet Lee and Blackwell both say that they haven't heard from Miles in 16 days. Because he's too busy recruiting. Especially with 1/4 of those days being dead time. Miles is doing more damage to recruiting by letting feelings from Hebert, DP, Lee and Blackwell fester and get aired.

Is it normal to have the head coach keeping a good bit of correspondence with players after the season's over, while coming down the homestretch of recruiting?
Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, Kelly, Petrino...those don't seem like guys you just call up after the season, and chit chat with. I had coaches I liked, and coaches I didn't...I sure didnt talk to any of them once the season ended.

It's normal for LSU fans to complain about Miles failing to do what's not normally expected.

So it's normal for a head coach to not return calls from his players?
Its one thing if the player doesn't reach out to the coach... which is probably the norm... but if you are the head coach and you got a call from Will Blackwell you don't return it? You can't spare 5 minutes?
heck, I would welcome any of my seniors to help me with recruiting.

How many times did Blackwell call him?
I'll say it again...are Saban, Meyer, etc. running to the phone if one of their guys calls? How often do players generally try to get on touch with the head coach within a few weeks of the season ending?

Probably not often. Which is why NOT returning the call is that much more confusing.

It's unclear to me whether Blackwell actually made a phone call or if he was speaking rhetorically.

But if someone didn't twist it around to make it sound like the worst thing a human could do, what would people talk about on the Rant?

precisely.

If he never called and meekly just stolled by the office that would shortcut all of this, agreed. But several posters are saying that Miles is too busy or shouldn't have to return a phone call. So for you and all others, just answer the simple question:
If you are the head coach and you got a call from Will Blackwell do you return the call?

THAT in no way validates your argument.

Did he even call? Did he leave a message that said, "hey coach, nothing big, just holler at me when ya can after signing day?"

How do you know the "call" even happened?
Miles has kept in touch with many of his former players. JR, MF, just to name a couple.
If, let me say that again IF, Blackwell had called Miles, Miles would've talked to him or returned the call. It's simply the way he is.
It sounds like Blackwell was annoyed about the offense's performance in the game and was venting, just like someone else that did the same and got it out of his system. Shepard.

You are one of those posters that said that you wouldn't expect other coaches (Meyer, Nick Saban, Kelly, Petrino) to keep up with ex players ( and by ex we are talking about days here).
As LA Birdman said, if it was just a shout out or post on his facebook page, this is a total non-issue.
Worst case scenario, this may just mean that Les is too upset to call back, which would be human.. at least for humans that don't have whole offices devoted to handling their correspondence.
But the question still stands.

But to end the night on a good note and end my little bout with insomnia / flu
<-- Here's to Les and Will hooking up (via phone) real soon.

I have a feeling that more and more will come out.
from the DLo article
quote:
offensive lineman Will Blackwell said LSU just got beat by a team that executed when it needed to.
But Blackwell shot down the rumor traveling across message boards and through email accounts in the week after the game, saying there was no heated argument between players and Miles prior to the game.
“It’s ridiculous,” Blackwell said of the rumor.
Still, he understands why a rumor like that would get started in the wake of such a poor performance.
“To have the season that we had and to go out and play a game like that, there obviously has to be something wrong in the eyes of the fans,” Blackwell said. “You know, somebody came up with this idea that there was a fight and people jumped on it. There’s no truth to that. It is totally fictional.”

I'm just wondering when and how often they do when it's the home stretch of recruiting season.

It's over and done, let's move on.

Now we gonna worry/made a big deal over a return call not being made when we don't know for a fact that a call was made that needed to be returned.
No, we don't nit-pick this crap to death.
