No he didn't. Sky screamers made that up and the bandwagon jumped on board.
He was criticizing the system, agreement between NBA and NCAA that forced talented young athletes to attend college one season instead of going directly to the NBA out of HS.
He's right you know.
From what I read a few months ago Simmons was rooting for LSU in the tournament.

As soon as he shows some affection for LSU, we’ll love him back 10-fold. It’s that simple. Has the dude worn any LSU gear in public since leaving? Has he tweeted encouragement for his former team? Has he come back for a single game? Maybe he’s done something that I’ve missed, but he’s gonna have to show me LSU was not just something he suffered for a few months.

He was great at getting to the basket and getting rebounds. But he was terrible at defending, had no shot outside of the paint, didn't shoot free throws well and frequently disappeared when the game was on the line.
It's sad that I have to explain how he was mediocre. Just goes to show how few people actually watched basketball then.

Agree with you 100%. I'm not against Simmons at all. But, what you are saying is true.

With Naz, you never thought he was just being forced to play for LSU, can't say the same for Simmons.

Omg. He actually rooted for lsu? Wow. Tiger through and through.

Ftr, I couldn’t give a shite less about BS.
One way or the other.

The hate Simmons received is 10 fold over naz
Without question, it's not even comparable. I don't hate either in fact I really like Naz. And Simmons talent is unmistakable.
Yes he can't shoot and honestly it seems it's gotten worse...at this point it's like a mental thing I think like Jon Lester throwing to first. But make no mistake he's a freak talent.
But he quit at the end of his season here and no one can ever convince me any differently...he did. And that will never sit well with me and the excuses and explanations I've heard for that will always ring hollow.
CJJ totally mismanaged that whole thing about as bad as any coach I've ever seen, but still...finish like a competitor and play with pride. Neither of those things happened.

Naz receives plenty and what’s even more telling is the way he was hammered by fans all season long just because we knew he was leaving.
This simply isnt true. Naz was generally praised. You are trying to group Naz in with Ben to strengthen your argument, and I'm calling bullshite, Son.

It’s funny. Everyone on this board used to shite on the guy and talk about him having no heart and no chest when he would put no effort in while playing at LSU.
Gets drafted and becomes and all-star and everyone here wants to talk about how they’ve supported him all the way and how anyone that doesn’t is just a hater. This board either has amnesia or is consistently full of shite. Probably a mix of both.

quote:sadly this is correct. He passed up a game winning shot against Marquette and flat out hid in the second half against Oklahoma, with the nation watching.
and frequently disappeared when the game was on the line.
He has tremendous skills for a guy his size, but he can’t shoot a lick, either from the field or the free throw line, and that’s a big liability.

He’s done all that except go to a game which he might have idk if he did or didn’t

He was a 0.5 and done. The whole season was a walk-through for him. Reuben Randle showed much more emotion.
