19-11 would obviously be a bit taller of an order but not impossible either. So to say we have "zero shot" at hosting a super is not really true

If 2014 could get a top 8 seed by getting hot late and winning the SEC tournament anyone can get a top 8 seed. LSU has a slim shot but it can definitely happen.

Just stop. All your post did was prove you are absolutely clueless.

We have zero shot at a Super

20-10 in SEC play is an absolute complete lock to be a top 8 seed. Don't even need to look at anybody else's resume. 20 SEC wins is a lock. We have 14 wins right now, and 6 games left in SEC play. So saying there is zero chance is just dumb. 19 would get us well into the conversation as well.

Logic would dictate that we end up paired with USM, but logic doesn't have a lot to do with it when it comes to the committee and LSU and they'll probably send us to the West Coast (again)

Logic huh? What about the fact that geography doesn't play into it at all? The 16 seed plays the 1. The 15 the 2, and so forth.

You really embarrassed yourself with this one.

When was the last time we were sent to the West Coast for a super regional? I'll give you a hint....it's never happened. The only road supers we've played in have been Tuscaloosa in 1999, New Orleans in 2001, and Knoxville last year.

Years where we lost in the regionals as the host, we were paired with Tulane in 2005 and Rice in 2014. So when we have not been a top 8 seed but still hosted a regional, we haven't been paired with a team not in current SEC states. Just because we've been sent out to the West Coast a few times in the history of our program to regionals doesn't mean they have some infatuation with sending LSU to the west coast. We were a bubble team barely making the NCAAT every year that happened.

Having Jared Poche and Aaron Nola that year was nice.

What was not nice? Paul Mainieri acting like a major league manager in that regional.

We have at least 7 more conference games and we need to win at least 3. I think we will win 3 more regular season conference games and at least 2 tournament games. Looking good.

Mainieri tried to give McCune a Senior year victory lap outing up 4-0 late against Houston instead of putting Broussard in the game.

Exactly. I don't think 17 is the lock many think it is. 2-1 against Ole Miss and 1-2 against Vandy and we will be on the edge. 18 RPI now (I believe). Vandy is 4 which will help (hopefully we can pull out 2). Ole Miss' RPI is 55 which will not help us much unless we sweep.

There is only 2 supers I don't want to play in and that's Tenn and the Beavers.

like our chances getting to 40 wins before the Regionals
that’s the magic number for me. I think we enter the discussion for a national seed if we get to 40 and get some quality Q1 wins in Hoover.

We absolutely will host a regional. The Super is the only thing we're working towards at this point, IMO.

17 is a lock for regional
18 gets us a 9-12 seed
19 gets us an outside shot at the 8 seed
20 gets us top 8 for sure

I'd count SECT wins as half a win for those numbers.

LSU should never ever ever be sent to the west coast for a REGIONAL (key word being regional)..I don’t care how much they were on the “bubble”. But most certainly not more than once.

It’d be awesome to go on a 2017 run where we went on a 20-1 streak from the middle of May all the way thru to the championship series. Pretty much in the exact same spot today as we were 5 years ago then got hot and finished with the #2 overall seed.

We've hosted the following schools in regionals that are nowhere near LSU, and I'm just going to start with the 1999 season when the format changed:

2001 - Cal, VCU, and Minnesota
2003 - UNC Wllmington
2004 - Army, College of Charleston
2005 - Marist
2009 - Minnesota
2012 - Oregon State ( )
2014 - Bryant
2015 - Lehigh, UNC Willmington
2016 - Utah Valley St
2019 - Stony Brook, Arizona St

There are only so many regional hosts. It's impossible only to put teams in regionals where it makes geographic sense unless you're advocating for there to be a quota on how many teams from each part of the country get bids, which I'm sure you don't. The point being, when you're a bubble team barely getting a bid, you can't then complain about where you get sent to play. To argue otherwise just sounds entitled. West Coast teams get sent all over the country every year for regionals, and I don't see any of our fans white knighting for them. Conversely, teams from the Southeast get sent out West, and I don't see our fans white knighting for them either.

You realize I never said that #2 seeded west coast teams should have to travel to Baton Rouge..right? That being said..even though Oregon St had won a couple of NCs..they just aren’t anywhere near LSU as far as anything concerning college baseball ..especially support.

So you think LSU is entitled to preferential treatment, as I suspected

I actually think that regionals should be true regionals like 20 something years ago when there were 48 teams with 8 regionals of 6 teams…and very few teams travelled 1000s of miles. But yes…since the new system has been in place, LSU has not hosted a regional 3 times…and 2 of those they were sent to the west coast as #2 seed…where 3 times they played a lower seeded team FROM THE WEST COAST. That should never happen to a team that has contributed more to college baseball than anyone over the past 3 decades.
