no, this just can't be. got to be something more sinister and underhanded than that. maybe they raced and Les let the faster one play.

I think Crowton's scheme mentally damaged Lee, and Jefferson was in the wrong scheme.

This is part of it. But the scheme, itself, was absolutely terrible - never creating mismatches in the secondary, never utilizing checkdowns and drop offs routes.

It was just painful to watch playcalling over the last three seasons.

it killed me to watch McElwain send a back in motion to Julio's side to force a coverage change, or send a slot or TE guy in motion to move a guy out of a running lane...5 receivers doing button hooks isn't much of a passing game

Except when the blitz was coming. Then it was five receivers doing fifteen yard routes that took four seconds to develop.

Can you help me (and others I assume) understand exactly wtf jj does or has done in the past three fricking years that gives LSU a "better" chance to win.

Answering your question with a question:

What has Jarrett Lee shown that inspires so many to believe he's a better option?

That's the real question here.

Honestly, besides being white, having a quick release and being a decently touted recruit... the answer is nothing.

Not much really. The guy ahead of him is pretty bad though, and it is just wishful thinking for the most part. It's more wanting the incumbent out than Lee in.

And here it goes. The low IQ idiots resort to the racial question. Way to go chief!

Because many males ages 25-60 like to lve vicariously through LSU football players.

Lee represents the gun slinger Brett favre good ole boy.. Those same people identify with lee and the struggles he's had. They relate to that. They want lee to start because out of the two (JJ and JL) he is the great white hope.

It's basic psychology really.

There's a lot of white dudes in baton rouge that wish JJ wasn't starting.

Just saying

This is what it mostly is. There are some idiots out there that just want Lee in bc he is white. I feel most people think our starting QB has not produced enough to have an almost guaranteed starting position. Especially when last year Lee comes off the bench in 2 key games and leads game winning drives.

FTR I would have just liked to see Lee get more of a shot when JJ was slumping last year.

Do you assume it is because he is black or is it because he was a horrible QB last year? Do you have links to a large number of people hating JJ because he is not white? Or is this just a wild guess?

So, by my being white and thinking JJ hasn't been a very good QB, it automatically means it is racial?

Hell, I was hoping Shepard would get a shot.

Yes. Prove to me there is a large number of fans who want JJ to fail because he is black.

Folks play the race card when they are out of rational ideas.

It is honestly a fresh start for both JJ and JL. We'll probably use both of them again unless one of them is just heads and shoulders above the other.

JL was a big part of our success last year. I'm glad he stuck around. I think he has made up for his sins, to a point. He's still got more to prove and I like that....it makes him hungry.

JJ also seems reinvigorated with fresh competition from a hyped JUCO transfer.

So we'll see.
