JJ has more sacks and a higher passing percentage by .10%
JL has, I recall, bout a .5 higher yards per pass
I don't have a problem picking out who I want to start come September and I would be surprised if Miles does either.
I was wondering when someone was going to post stats. For some reason the perception exists that Lee was always lighting it up through the air, but his Yards per pass average out at about 1.4 yards more the JJ's, and he lags behind in almost every other major statistic--except sacks. I want the best QB to start, but let's not let nostalgia muddle the truth. I don't like JJ's posture and demeanor all the time either, but he was not a terrible QB last year. Assuming he makes some modest gains in accuracy on the medium-long ball, we can do well enough to make it to Atlanta next year.

Les Miles said JJ had all summer to improve on his accuracy throwing down field.
Point 1: At least we have an indication from Miles that he recognizes a big part of JJ's problem. Over throwing every long pass.
Does Les Miles statement make you think he is open to a change at QB is JJ doesn't improve? Or do you take it to mean that barring an injury JJ will definetely start?

I dont think you start lee cus he hasnt proven to anyone he can start and finish a game. Unc is not the best team we will see, but they wont be the worst. Start jefferson limit turnovers and when on pure over all talent. Lee comes in and shits his pants in the first half in the GEORGIA DOME and ruin him forever, if he hasnt already. where jefferson and speed is key and he showed that last time he played there. Other than that im sure Les will stary Lee. Especially if the offense struggles.

I don't have any context, but it kind of reads as a "back off, he's our guy and he'll be better by fall". But again, I'd have to see some context.
I honestly don't see JJ not starting unless something drastic changes.

me neither, but speaking of drastic changes I dont see any in the way of JJ's game either.

I think this is true...They drilled it into his head to protect the football and it cost us in offensive production. along with play calling but that also had to do with Lee's woes two years ago.
Protecting the football was part of Jefferson's makeup from highschool. I believe he only threw 4 ints his senior year.

Taking sack after sack after sack, 3 and outs after 3 and outs kinda wears out the defense. LSU had the worst offense in the state of Louisiana last year and JJ is your unquestioned #1?
ETA: Nevermind, Tulane was 110th. Woohoo, a few spots better than Tulane, but still behind ULL, ULM, and Tech.
You fail to mention we had one of the worst rushing offenses in recent years as well which had something to do with it. We also had one of the lowest rushing TD totals.

What did Jefferson do to show he should be the #1 in that game?

Its on Rival's statistics, La Tech is about ten spots ahead of Moo State.
And who was their respective competition to gain those stats???? Lets not let facts and reality get in the way.

No shite, it amazes me that people actually think that LSU had the 112th "best" offense in the country. Apparently, all 119 teams play the exact same schedule. I mean, our offense sucked, no doubt about it, but it was by no means 112th best. I'm sorry, but if you think Tulane at #110 against their schedule had a better offense than LSU, you are fricking retarded.
And this thread started off well for a few pages before eventually being gayed up by the usual suspects. Oh well...
