I don't think Herman leaked that either. I don't think it was strategically leaked. It got out just like everything else does, some underling talked to the wrong person or someone on the board talked. You can't hardly keep something like that quiet. They did manage to keep the deal with Saban quiet until the morning of the press conference which was amazing.
You are right if that dude believes that he might be.

The timing is the timing. Texas lost earlier that day but no decision was made on Strong. The AD released a statement earlier in the week that he looked forward to working with Charlie next year. It almost read verbatim to the one Alleva made about Les after the A&M game in 2015.
The Herman to LSU announcement is made and Herman is in negotiation with Texas within hours. What am I missing? If you think the Herman to LSU had no impact on Strong getting fired you are an idiot. They thought we had Jimbo (just like the year before). They thought LSU was going for a name coach. Alleva ended up going to TJ Maxx for a clearance rack coach. They thought they had a year with Strong with Herman still at Houston.
I am smarter than the guy that thinks Alleva is a good AD.

It broke the day before on Tiger Rant. We all thought it was a crazy pie in the sky dream. No one seriously thought it was real. Things were different in 1999. No plane following ect.
If you real Saban's account he was looking for a raise and wanted to stay at Mich St. The president called him that morning and told him to "carry his arse" which he did.

That is a possibility. No doubt. It seems to fit as well. But had it came back to Alleva and Texas doesn't bite. Herman could be screwed. We were, at the time, rumored to take Jimbo. Alleva could have dropped Herman and gone to Jimbo to get a proven winner and a name coach. Remember he was supposed to come in 2015.
Who had the most to gain and the least to lose in the leak?
I agree it could have leaked naturally but the world knew Herman wanted Texas more than LSU. I doubt LSU would have been loose lipped about it.
