Alot of fans are just social fans it's just a get together they don't care if we win or lose. They think it's hip to have LSU season tickets
Unfortunately, this. Fan, short for fanatic.

I have two tickets and my buddy has two next to me. He was floating the idea of selling his and I had some choice words for him.

Interesting to me as well, how does stub hub get so many? I would never sell my tickets on the open market, just give them to friends or family.
If everyone waited until a few days before the game the tickets would not be so high. Why someone would pay $500 for a ticket three or four tickets before the game is beyond me, but it is their business.
Tickets for the A&M game were going for $250 to $600, on the wed before the game they were $100.
If I were LSU, I would sell them for face value to real fans and at a discount to Charitable Foundations.

They're going to weddings with their wives, brah.

Everything has a price! A lot of people testing the market aka trying to find a sucker. Mine are currently up for sale for $20,000. If no takers, then I'll be at the game.

If I had a ticket no way I give it away, It sucks because I could not afford the kind of money people are asking. Sucks being a broke arse college kid

Here's the truth: some of our alleged fans are lazy douches who are so desperate to make a few hundred bucks that they have no qualms about undermining our home field advantage. The game means little to them. Sabotage Tiger Stadium? Erode crowd support? Ruin the experience for surrounding season ticket holders who now have to endure smug Bama fans in their section? No worries for these selfish folks, because hey, they got some greenbacks to buy a new bumper for their 88 Trans Am, and they'll just watch the game on TV anyway with a beer perched on their gut. They'll switch the channel to Home Improvement reruns in the third quarter.
Same inconsiderate assholes who sold the NCG tickets to Alabama fans.
If you want to sell your tickets to this game, can you at least make the nominal effort necessary to ensure you sell to other LSU fans.

I agree with that. Just I would never miss any top matchups!

Sellers are scared LSU will lose
I think this is part of it but another angle is that a lot of people have been priced out after 3 straight years of price increases and the only way they can keep their season tickets is to sell "the big game" since they are/were going for hundreds of dollars per ticket. I know a few people who are in this situation.
