Miles didnt have to rebuild LSU, it was already there...Meyer had to clean up Zook's mess...and the guy might win 3 titles in 4 years...come'on Miles is ok, he is a good man...But Meyer's X's and O's knowledge on offense is comparable to Saban's X's and O's knowledge on Defense...they are both very driven men who not strive for perfection but demand it...Those kind of coaches usually get the most out of their players and are always successful...

and yes spikes should have been suspended for at least 1 whole game.

Who had the tougher "coaching up" assignment?

Miles following Saban?
Meyer following Zook?

Zook was a heck of a recruiter that is something you cannot deny. So spare me the cupbard was bare crap.

With that said. This is to the thread in general. Yes a big part of college football is winning. A HUGE part, but its sad but a lot of people in general and obviously in here have forgotten that these are young men some still teenagers. These are not profressionals. The head coach still has a responsibilty to train them into being successful upstanding men on and off the field. Many of these kids dont have a good role model at home and are having to raise kids themselves so they need someone to show them how to do it. For that I will take Les Miles over Meyer seven days a week. If it means one or two more losses than florida (I dont think that is true) every year then so be it. What is it worth to win the world but lose your soul?.....Just remember everytime you try to discredit Miles being a great guy as not something important for a college head coach that these are young kids not professionals who are in a tough time away from home growing up .

you have a noble point, but Meyer is still about to win his 3rd NC in 4 years... :bo

their not preachers, their not parents, their football coaches, I would agree that part of their job is to mold young men, but their first job is to win...

I like how Meyer is classless since he is at Florida. If he was at LSU, you wouldnt give a shite as long as he won.

Meyer gets a pass for going 8-4 the year after a NC with a Heisman winning QB. If he was at LSU you'd be asking for his head on a platter.

Saying you would take Miles bc he has more class and discipline is like the old " she has a good personality". It sounds good and all, but at the end of the day- I want my coach to recruit and sign the best players, develop them and win.

Are you talking about Meyer or Miles....kinda describes both of them.

I would argue that Miles is winning...if hes going 10-2 most years with a NC every couple of years and with class then Id take that over meyers 2 NCs (they aint winning crap this year).

ETA: Also dont think that parents dont see this at least the ones who dont have their hand out. This is one reason Miles is such a great recruiter.

And I agree with a previous poster. Let's see how well Meyer fares beginning next season when Tim Tebow is no longer around.
Doesn't really matter, Florida is so loaded with talent (and thugs), I doubt they will fall anytime soon. Meyer will likely be contending for championships many years to come. However, I do agree, he is slime, & I feel Miles has a lot more intregity, but unfortunately, today, it's all about winning, nothing else matters..

I prefer Les as OUR coach of OUR university.
He has class, a great W-L record and GRADUATES many fine men, doing it with class and loyalty becoming of a GREAT university like LSU.
I love college football as much as anyone, but it's COLLEGE.
If you want win at any cost football, wait 'till Sundays.

BTW~Didn't like $aban when he was at LSU. My father called him a yankee carpet-bagger when he arrived, and proved to be right on.

Count me in on this.
I watched many games that Florida played with Tebow still diving in the middle in the 4th quarter with a 20 point plus lead. It's ridiculous. I firmly believe Urban could give a rat's a$$ about Tebow's future, as long as he kept winning games with him.
I also believe that there would have been more for Spikes to pay than a half game suspension if he played for Miles.

Les Miles gives you the warm-fuzzies... that's why he is a better coach. Give me a frickin' break. I'll take wins over warm-fuzzies any day.

Which Miles are we talking about? The 2007 version, the Mad-Hatter, that wasn't afraid to call any play in any situation was fun and an excellent coach. The conservative Miles is nowhere near Meyer. Miles recruits as well as any, and I know he has a young QB and struggling line play, but I wish he would open up a little bit more like the good ol' days
