You trailed a #305 Kenpom 1-4 team at the half

However, beating Pitt would be a great sign.

This weekend will shed some light

They ultimately won the game by a relatively comfortable margin. It wasn't exactly one for the highlight reel, but it wasn't a loss.

That said, you can't shite on the team for last night and completely ignore the fact they went into a sold-out arena at Kansas St and dominated the final 30 minutes of the game. No other LSU team over the last 3 seasons has done that in non-conf. play. That in and of itself is "improvement". How much improved the team is remains TBD. But you can't say, at least at this VERY early stage of the season they aren't improved relative to the prior two seasons.

Last season they lost @ a middle of the road Syracuse team by 23 in their only true non-conf. road game.

Don’t say much until they play Pitt that’s a very good team. If we beat them we have something

Exactly, I'd go so far as to say the in the pre-conference schedule last year we were worse than in year one. We played very respectably in the conference and went 9-9 but had zero shot at the NCAA tourney solely based on how bad we were in the pre-conference.

This greenbriar tournament should tell us a lot instead of having to wait til conference play.

Wisconsin ranked and UCF receiving votes in both polls as well as Pitt. No losses between the 4 teams going into it. 1-1 would be decent but coming out of this 2-0 would have us going from no votes currently to ranked IMO
