Seeing a lot of venom spewed on this board lately, especially from the anti-miles camp.

So why does being rational, giving credit for past success and wanting to see the season play out before we pass judgment become a bad thing? That we are blind, stupid, sheep, posi-tigers etc?

Knee jerk reaction by many. I want to see improvement. I reserve judgement til the end.

It's not a bad thing. I applaud most of you for withholding judgment. Most of the so called "nega-tigers" have a problem with how bad this team has looked. To be honest it's been quite a while since an LSU team has looked completely over matched in every phase of the game and that's what has most worried.

JMO, alot of the "judgment" is a result of non-improving historical trends. If you give credit to past successes, you have to ackowledge the past failures and the nature of those failures.

Clock management, offensive scheme, reluctance to change or adapt to a changing CFB landscape, etc...

I haven't spit any venom, but the trends are there to see for those with open eyes. People here certainly go too far though, on both ends of the spectrum.

Some people have always hated Miles and believe everyone thinks exactly the same way they feel. They are absolutely delusional to believe Miles would be fired following this season regardless of record.

You could ask the same thing about why a rationale evaluation of this season (awful losses against the only non-cupcakes mainly due to poor coaching) somehow makes you an awful fan that secretly pulls for LSU to lose.

Simply put,
Les miles' teams require Elite defense to be competitive. A roster full of nfl talent. To his credit, for ten years, he has been able to get insane talent.

Unfortunately, we no longer have an elite defense, thus, many of us do not have faith things will get turned around in the short term.

Miles hasn't always made it easy for himself, but there's way too much self-loathing and projection by the haters.

I feel that the right after the game their was genuine shock and people felt they had to lash out somewhere. But now that the feeling has settle down for most rational people their are still the ones who were anti LSU even before the season who feel empowered and they are stoking the fire and being joined in by fans of other schools who post on this board who try to disguise themselves as LSU fans. They work hard to discredit the program and try to hurt recruiting.

You think it's rational to be content with blowout losses to MSU and Auburn?

Yeah you nailed it
I am in no way a miles fan but I do respect the man and his accomplishments. At the very least his career totals here should provide the benefit of the doubt to see where this effort finishes up this season

2008 seemed FAR more hopeless to me than 2014.

People are emotional, and rational discussion isn't allowed by either side of the debate here to be honest.

People calling for Les' head on a platter right now are just emotional and need to calm down. Their counterparts continue to e-knight on here against anything said that is critical of Miles and are also emotional.

Real discussion just doesn't happen on here.

That said, Les isn't going anywhere because LSU isn't firing him and no one is going to take him from us. No one has tried in 10 years and given LSU's performance so far this year, no one in their right mind would given his age.

I may not believe in the guy, but we are stuck with him and I hope he turns things around. although I don't have much faith he will this season, perhaps he'll do it next season with more experience under the players' belts.

Because the very foundation of fandom is irrational.

Who said anything about being content? Nice strawman Rex

I can see the young talent in key spots and the talent gaps in other spots. Some of what I am seeing makes sense in context, some does not. Before I make any judgements I prefer to have all of the facts. We are 4-2 with 6 to play. Let's see what happens in all 12 games first

He was able to develop a lot of NFL talent with only mediocre recruiting classes. Think what he will be able to do now that recruiting has, with this last class, finally started to get better, and is currently looking good for 2015 and 16. I don't think his ability to develop talent has suddenly disappeared. We had a one two punch of a string of very mediocre classes combined with a sudden case of players leaving early for the NFL.

Who in the actual frick is content with these losses? Seriously, where do you people get this from? Choosing not abandon ship and burn the whole fricking thing down 2 games into the SEC slate doesn't equate to "accepting" or "being content" with the results thus far. This season has been pretty goddamn terrible for the most part and our two SEC losses have been downright embarrassing. But Miles has earned a chance to right the ship and I'm interested (and quite worried/anxious) to see how it plays out.

I completely disagree. I think 2014 is far worse. In 2008, we came off 3 years of good to great offenses and QB play. Since 2007, we've had mediocre to bad play in 6 of 7 seasons.

The defense also had a hope of being fixed with coaching changes on the defensive side. That isn't happening any time soon.

In 2008, we moved the ball on offense against basically everyone, but turned it over a lot with a RS Frosh QB, and the games were competitive in the SEC games. We won a road SEC game. This team is just struggling badly in every category and that is what is scary.

We literally have 30 minutes of solid to very good play against the 3 FBS teams we've faced so far this season. Think about that and tell me 2008 seemed more gloomish.
