Great recruiting tool to let freshman play. May have been something Les promised him and he is holding to it

When did you become the HEAD COACH...knowing what's best for LSU?...It seems like no matter how good LSU does, there are ALWAYS going to be somebody on here bitching about someting..can't you just enjoy the season for what it is?...

maybe Hilliard told Miles that he has 3 years and then he's moving on......

just like PP7 had been saying when he came to LSU.

He'll be the feature back in 2 years

Ford and Ware are both not leaving after their junior years, and there's no telling who we'll recruit between then and now. Hell, Blue might even be the starter. I think Hillaird is too slow from what I've seen to be the "feature" back. he'll be a brusier, LSU's Mike Tolbert IMO

I wonder if Terrance McGee is going to be redshirted ??
I would think that is the plan.

It's only been 3 games. Maybe he'll have a bigger role in the offense as the season progresses.
My guess

And we needed him to do that this year why? And please elaborate on this "bigger role"...

You probably started a thread last year around this time about Spencer Ware too. This is how we are handling the big backs that come into our program and it worked out great for Ware, why not Hilliard as well? RBs get injured often and all it takes is an injury to Ford or Ware and Hilliard is seeing carries at RB.

We have a winner! If you are going to burn red shirt years on someone, RB/FB is the best place to do it. We have tons of Soph & Fresh at the RB position, what makes you think there won't be another one or more that are in the same position next year, the year after that and so on....

Go and look back at the groups of RB's that have played in the last 10 years. You will find the Ridley's, Hesters... but on all of those teams, we have had more backs behind them that are all capable of carring a load. Hilliard getting a 5th year will not make or break an LSU backfield.

This is a head scratcher...Hilliard seems soft right now...should've redshirted him for sure.

Honestly, i dont care about this anymore. Red shirts used to a lot more important when everybody had to wait to play.

agreed; when the talent level is lacking, having 5th year seniors can help, when the talent level is what it has been during the miles era, it doesn't matter so much, maybe at QB but thats about it.

For 3 touches all year? Stampley and Copeland have the FB position locked up, and the RB position is locked with Ware, Ford, and Blue. We have a history of using big bruising backs and Hilliard could definitely be that guy when Ware moves on.

Obviously Blue is not going to be a feature back...ever.

One thing is for certain, Ware or Ford will miss a little time toward the end of the year nicked up, Hilliard will be needed to pound the likes of Bama and Arkansas if Ware cant go. I want him to have some experience.

Or they could have him pull a hammy and get a hardship.

It's a long year and a rough schedule. Remember 07. Loaded at RB until Scott and Williams were both out and Ridley had to step in. Would rather have a guy who has seen playing time during the year than someone seeing action for the first time during a critical time in the season.

Just saying.
