Simmons was passing time until he could get to the NBA. He didn't make his teammates better. He never demonstrated any love for the university. He never appeared to play with real passion.
The current system is dumb as hell. Players who have NBA potential are only enrolled in school for a few months and don't really care about their classes. But, blaming them is placing it at the wrong people.
Also, as mentioned above, he shows love to LSU. If you really want to place the blame on someone from that team, your anger should be directed at Tim Quarterman. He was, by all accounts, a real difficult person to work with and tried to show up his teammates and coaches.
