Why does ESPN put top notch CBB matchups at 11 AM?

Not sure if this is a dumb question, but does anyone know? I remember the Tennessee game (top 10 matchup I believe) was also at 11 AM last year. It kinda sucks for fans and students having to get to the arena at 10 AM (9 AM for students if you wanted a decent seat). This Auburn game is also at 11 AM, and I know ESPN likes to flex the Duke-UNC matchup so I won’t even get into that, but ESPN doesn’t feature ANY ranked matchups on Saturday other than ours, so is 11 AM considered one of their “prime” CBB slots?

Dunno, but I think 11 am helps us in this one. Hopefully, Aubie juns still asleep. We need to jump them from getgo.

The only school in the country that cares about primetime games is LSU. On saturdays especially not during football season your best bet to get eyeballs on the screen for basketball is 11 am. No one is staying home to watch a sec basketball game at 7 pm.

It should be good exposure after the GameDay show, then tip it off

Hoping the early start benefits us being on the road.

Because our so called top notch team gave up almost 100 points to one of the worst offensive teams in country and underwhelms most times by playing down to competition.

And we are still in first place. Why beat them up? We know they played awful against VANDY so what? Are they now suppose to lay down? Or can they regroup? Season is long.

Because ratings are probably higher for ACC and Big Ten games in the more densely-populated Mid-Atlantic and NE.
All about the eyeballs for advertisers $$$.

I think that tip-time was set before the season started. The reality is that even though both LSU and Auburn are good. And both are competing for the SEC crown. Those two name don't necessarily "move the meter" nationally when it comes to college basketball.

While I don't love the 11:00 am start at home. I'm MORE than happy to see that start time on the road this week. Auburn is great at home and they can get their "intimate" (read: small) gym rocking. It was last week vs. UK. But that game was at 5:00. 11:00 am may be a little less rowdy.

2:30 would be better for me.

1. We're still #1 in the SEC and will have a high likelihood of winning the conference if we win Saturday.

2. This game has been scheduled for 11 AM since before the Vandy game so your point is irrelevant.

Oh I completely agree. I'm just surprised that 2 years in a row our most highly ranked matchup is going to be at 11 AM.

This. This isn't bumfrick Kentucky.

Saturday night... dinner and drinks somewhere, or a movie vs. LSU vs. Auburn ... I'm doing the former.

Wow. I see why we can't pack the PMAC then.

TV slots are set way in advance so sometimes you get issues like this. Nobody thought LSU/UT would be that big of a game last year when the times were slotted

As much as it sucks to watch it on TV, I believe this will be to our advantage. It's supposed to be a cold and rainy morning in Auburn so I would hope that it would put a damper on the students

I really hope you’re a female. If not, the transition should be easy for you.
