Ole Miss is an extremely difficult place to win, without Laremy Tunsil(ling), he was very competitive at USC, much better comparison to LSU

First head coaching gig do we cruisfy him for those mistakes. I mean he has been under good coaches since carrol, etc. It's been said now he is hands off now with his assistant coaches unlike les. I look at Coach O more as a CEO now. He will lock down this state and get top notch talent. Bring in a great O coordinator (pay him) save the money by hiring Coach O

So, hire a coach with no upward mobility?

He hasn't been a coordinator

That means that NOT one person thought enough of his knowledge on either side of the ball to give him the reins. Think about that for a minute. He was hired a bunch, sometimes by friends, who dist trust him as DC

Now you think, after an abysmal HC stint, that he should be given a top 7-8 job in college football???

Yea, like (The Process) which is relative to (dominating your opponent). Yea you are right no players will buy into the same old shite year after year.

True, O has only been a recruiting coordinator at three places (USC, MISS and LSU). He was also assistant head coach at Tenn and USC. And now he has 3 head coaching gigs-- Ole Miss, USC and LSU.

His recent success at USC and LSU in the HC role, should carry some weight. In my estimation, more weight than a D.C. or OC. DOES THAT MEAN HE GETS THE JOB? Of course not. He should get an interview and due consideration, if he wins the next two and the bowl game.

And for those supporting Amanda as our next HC, he has no experience in HC role. So there are even more reasons to not hire him.

Head coaches usually don't change that much. It's super unlikely that he would go from a 10-25 record to winning NCs. It would be fairly unprecedented. He isn't like Belicheck or Carroll, who both had a lot more success with a lot more responsibility. He was awful at Ole Miss, to the degree that of the 7 losing seasons OM has had in the last 20 years, O was responsible for three of them.

That is your premise, and then you give examples of those who did change and became very successful.

He admits he was a bad coach at ole piss. He was not ready to be a head coach at that time. He was drinking too much and acting a fool.

He has matured and has learned how to be a leader. He admits ALL this

You think O can be like Belicheck and Carroll? Carroll was immensely more successful than O, making the playoffs 3 times and having a 27-21 record if I remember right. Belicheck is also a genius who had success as a DC, and had a playoff appearance in Cleveland, and had a winning record, something O never achieved.

O is going to run us into the ground but you people are too myopic to see it.

Yet 3 schools have made him head coach. And he's 10-3 taking over 2 trainwrecks and 9-2 in conference.

Dumb argument. Try harder.

That's nice and all but he should go to a mid major and prove that he's changed just like every other coach.

My take: coaching has changed now more than ever the head coach is only as good as his asst. coaches. With this being said I am assuming Coach would keep most of his asst. coaches maybe get rid of grimes and BDP. Get a great to good O coordinator and keep this thing going.

I haven't said he should be the HC-- just yet. But your crystal ball is not any more clear than mine. So myopia may be yours. If O becomes the HC he will prove you right or wrong-- opinions- everybody has one.

Yet when was the last time a CEO type coach won a national title? Sabah, Meyer, and Fisher are all experts on their side of the ball. O would be more dependent on his coordinators than Miles was. I'd rather not risk it. Regardless the true star of this team is Aranda, who is a genius and deserves the head coaching job over O, meaning neither of them deserve it.

Not only that, I'm amazed people can insist O learned from his mistakes want him to prove that he learned from his mistakes here. Why can't he get a coaching job at a mid-major like everyone else? Not only that LSU has hired two NC winning coaches in a row. The minimum for each was a winning record at their previous stops. Why do we want to deviate from that?

There are lots of good young coaches. Fleck is doing well, Willie Taggart has rebuilt two programs and is gonna be a star, and I think if we do hire from the staff it should be Aranda as at least he has an area of expertise and has a track record of success.

I just will throw this out there. I posted this earlier. Today's top recruits like stability that was les miles saving grace. These young guns you speak of what happens if the NFL comes a calling? I like Aranda if anybody because we know what he brings defensively. Also what can they do recruiting wise? I am just worried we will get rid of a good head coach with great assistant coaches and bring in a young gun and the LSU job is over their head.
