why? another chance to watch my team. another opportunity to get behind and support my team. another chance at winning just one more game. another chance for some of those kids to play in one more college game. to give some of those kids a once in a lifetime opportunity. the real question is why WOULDNT you want to make the playoffs.... as a true fan anyhow...

It's a milestone. Being top 4 would be great for this program. Yes, of course we'd get smoked, but unless you're 100% pussy, you want a playoff berth.

We may still lose, but
a) we would likely score > 0
b) we now know the game plans (theirs & ours)
c) much harder to plan to defeat an opponent the second time around...that helps the loser of the first round.
and yes, just being in the Championship game helps w recruits.

Absolutely. Although there's very little chance of beating 'Bama it would be something for the program to hang it's hat on. The only way to win a title is to get into the playoff and try.

The Florida loss looks highly glaring, because we would control our destiny (except SEC-CG, of course) with just a loss to this particular Bama team, shut out or no.
What if Bama hangs 45 or 50 on UGA (even if the final is 49 - 31 for example) in the SEC-CG?
How good will our defense look in hindsight if Bama keeps rolling out half a hundred on everyone, including the playoffs?
