Why do we not have many contact left handers in the weekend rotation?

They help settle the game down and give the defense a chance to level the game.

Big time programs don't need "soft-throwing, crafty lefties"

Why not? They seem to hurt us in the past.

I would say LSU could use whatever it can pitching wise.

Agreed. We have the raw talent, however. Coaching needs to get the best out of them. I think it's more a situation of our guys having dynamic stuff, but Yeskie not being able coax more strikes.

I've said in the past that having a guy like that in a middle reliever role helps change things up a bit. I understand the lefty on lefty situational pitcher, but having a guy like a Cooper or Ack who can come in and give the other team a different look for a couple of innings can help. Just when they other team has adjusted their timing to the new guy, we can bring in another flame thrower.

We have a whole roster full of right handers that throw mid-90s. It would be useful if we had a smooth left or a right handed submariner. Sometimes it just doesn't work out.

Having said that, having a bunch of guys with major league "stuff" isn't a bad thing, if they can avoid walking people and hit their spots.

Jay seemed to have a type that he recruited most in the off-season. That was guys who throw at least mid-90s and had a good bit of experience. They just so happened to be mostly RHP.

I agree with the Yeski part to an extent. I can see if he is constantly trying to nibble the edges, but man, some of the pitches weren't even close enough to make a hitter offer. I think Bertman called them No Pitch. When you are all over the place you will not get a benefit.
