I will guarantee you that most LSU fans (and Bama fans for that matter) would be 100% behind Auburn if not for the Cam/Cecil Newton situation.
It's a lose/lose situation.
If Auburn wins and then has to abdicate the title, the conference looks bad.
If Auburn loses, the conference looks bad.
Even if Auburn wins and never has to abdictate or vacate anything, people will always suspect something shady went down at Auburn. Too much smoke, too much history of shady dealings at Auburn.
I'm not pulling for Oregon or Auburn. I'm a big SEC homer but I don't like CamGate one bit. I live in Oregon and don't want to endure Duck fans mouthing off until Labor Day when LSU might put them back in their place. Might. And if the Ducks somehow manage to beat both Auburn and LSU, I'll NEVER hear the end of it. Despite all that, I still have trouble rooting for Auburn so I'd rather just abstain. CamGate is that revolting. I was Auburn's biggest supporter in 2004 when the BCS screwed them, but not this year. Totally different circumstances this year.

Auburn represents what is wrong with college athletics. If you root for Auburn you are indirectly supporting a bunch of classless, law breaking, "yeah we did it, but prove it", jokes. Auburn doesn't deserve to be in the position they're in. They paid a player to achieve their"success".
SEC or not I hope they get what is coming to them. People in the SEC should be hoping they get their arse kicked. Auburn is a disgrace to the SEC.
Oh, to the Auburn fans that this will piss off...

OK - for the gazillionth time I will ask - What direct good does it do for LSU if Auburn (or any team that LSU recruits against) wins.
You had better believe that LSU uses both crystal balls when recruiting against Auburn, Alabama, Florida, etc.
Do you not think that they would do the same?
How does it help LSU to win a game or score 1 more point if the talking heads agree that the SEC is the best conference?

one reason i pull for au is b/c of oregon.
i just moved from l.a. i took all kinds of krap since 03 b/c i wear my purple and gold. i don't like usc.
so, it takes the ncaa FIVE years to follow up on bush's parents living in a free house. THE PROOF WAS THERE!!!
the sec/ncaa will let it go for FIVE years and it will all FADE away.
soooo, b/c the sec/ncaa don't care.........i don't care...
sooooo, go sec, sec....go auburn.

I did not pull for Bama last year, but I like Auburn and Georgia, and Miss. State and even Tennessee sometimes. I always pull for Vanderbilt and Kentucky, even S. Carolina. I am an SEC fan, just don't like Bama since the seventies.

They are fricking cheating, man.

We got the money from the going, that's great... but now they can do us a favor and lose like they deserve. Cheaters don't deserve to win.
Quack Attack!

I am pulling for Auburn to win. they are the better of two imo and plus they represent the SEC. Auburn will not make end roads in Louisiana regardless if they win or lose.

1) What the hell difference does our strength of schedule make at this point? Are you serious with this crap?
2) Auburn is dirty, and the SEC has nothing to prove as a conference. We are already 6-0 in BCS championship games, so being 6-1 isn't that big of a deal.
You do realize the closest conference is the Pac 10 at 1-1 right? That actually will likely be 0-1 soon too.
Here are conference records in the BCS championship if Auburn loses:
SEC = 6 - 1 * (assuming Auburn loses)
Big 12 = 2 - 5
Big Ten = 1 - 2
Pac 10 = 2 - 1 * (assuming Oregon wins)
ACC = 1 - 2
Big East = 1 -2
So that means only 2 conferences have winning records out of the 6 in BCS championship games AND that may not stand for the Pac 10 if the 2004 Title for USC is vacated. They'd end up 1-1.
So pardon me if I don't support a team that acts pathetic and is actually an embarrassment to our conference with their dirty play and tainted title run.

There are only 3 teams that I perpetually dislike- Auburn, Miami and Fla State. I will never forgive Auburn's intentional chop-block by Chaz Ramsey on Dorsey.

I don't want to see Newton hurt, but it would be much easier to root for AU if that arrogant prick wasn't on the field.

Here is the SEC bylaw pertinent to your question:
“If at any time before or after matriculation in a member institution a student-athlete or any member of his/her family receives or agrees to receive, directly or indirectly, any aid or assistance beyond or in addition to that permitted by the Bylaws of this Conference (except such aid or assistance as such student-athlete may receive from those persons on whom the student is naturally or legally dependent for support), such student-athlete shall be ineligible for competition in any intercollegiate sport within the Conference for the remainder of his/her college career.”
Cecil Newton has admitted that he put a price on his son's head to attend MSU. That implicitly infers an agreement to receive the funds he stipulated. Any third-grader could easily understand the gravity of this infraction and the violation of the bylaw, and yet the SEC honchos have pretended it to not be applicable to the Newtons and one can only assume that such pretense is the case due to reasons of tremendous financial gain to the league.
It is sad to watch the SEC sacrifice its own stated principles to its greed and avarice.
Of course, the truth will eventually come out as to what did transpire to secure Cam Newton's presence at Auburn, and when that does it will only reflect worse on the SEC if Auburn wins the National Championship Game.
But, more simply put, people often are averse to seeing self-admitted cheaters win.

Why do so many LSU fans want Auburn to lose?
1. The interception game
2. The cigar game
3. Their kicker started a fight with our band
4. Fairley is a thug
5. sCam Newton
6. Been to 3 LSU games at Auburn. Was treated like crap at each
Just a few reasons off the top of my head
