Why do roster moves make you feel better?

Honest question.

I'll admit that I have limited knowledge when it comes to the ins and outs of offensive line play. But I understand the basics.

What about the roster moves along the line give some of you more confidence in the line moving forward? To me, it's like the coaching staff is saying "we got it wrong the first time, so we'll try again." Thing is, all of these kids were there in camp, is there something I'm missing? Are there mental break downs in protection that make you think they can improve just by inserting a kid they previously didn't think was worthy of starting?

I'm not trying to be negative (not this time at least), I just honestly don't see how this instills confidence in some of you. Break it down for me.

Because 3 weeks and fall ball make dudes better...which is why after not seeing the barest in week 2 everybody expects the worst in week 3.

Anyone who thinks our line will look as bad as they did against southeastern is simply living in the moment.

this pretty much happens everywhere...i would rather see changes made/tried than to stick with the crap we are seeing. Maybe it lights a fire under the starter to play better. Competition is good for every position.

As far as moving dline to oline I think the player has to want to change positions.

Completely agree, but some on this board are looking at it as if it guarantees improvement of the unit, which it doesn't.

Don't get me wrong, I like the move. It's necessary and shows they are at least trying to make adjustments. But it doesn't mean we will all of the sudden have an all world offensive line.

Why?

We have played 2 games and the line looked bad in both. I know some starters were out last week, but really the third team O line should be able to handle SLU with relative ease.

What makes people think the line will suddenly play at SEC level now, against maybe the best front 7 we will see all year.

It is really a classic example of the triumph of hope over reason.

Rosenthal is a protypical build for an OT....he just needed to see it apparently

Rosenthal is a year away from starting, at least. Even O said as much. I'm more talking about the shifting of positions along the line and inserting Deculus at RT.

I heard the same shite plenty of times....like in 2013 when LSU’s oline was gonna get rocked by Bama and Mett went off. Or like last year when the held their own against the same team.

The gameplan and Scheme is the problem not the talent. Have you not been watching football long enough to see that each week is a new season?

Are we really counting on a guy, who has been playing defense since he set foot on campus, to come in and in less than a week be ready to play O line against AU?

I get that his future is on the O line, but it is really unrealistic and unfair to think he will be able to learn the offense and his assignments in time to be effective THIS WEEK.

when something isn't working, you try to fix it

and when you try to fix something, there's naturally a hope that the new solutions work

... common sense

I don't remember anyone saying this about the 2013 oline for any game. The 2013 line is probably the best in LSU history.

Nobody thinks he is playing this week.

Yeah. Nick Saban should have kept Josh Reed and Devery Henderson at running back

Roster moves always mean the coaches are stupid and got it wrong the first time

And you have confidence that O and E can get that fixed this week?

Again, hope over reason.

You're miss understanding the question. I'm not talking about moving players from DLine to OLine. I'm talking about shifting players who are already on the OLine. Like inserting Deculus at RT.

No and you'd be an idiot to suggest that this is the case

He might not play at OT at all this season much less next week

Sometimes it takes live game action to see flaws/holes in the OL. This allows the coaches to tweak who is playing where and often helps to alleviate protection and blocking issues.

Its pretty simple. Deculus looked better in the game and Traore looked bad, so they're moving Deculus to Traore's spot now that Charles is back.

I think the point is that O has a long track record of bad coaching moves and deficiencies he tries to mask or remedy with last minute changes and desperate chances. In recent memory, just look at his JUCO recruiting to make up for his bad whiffs on the recruiting trail.

They don't make me feel better because the move will do absolutely no good for Saturday.

The plan all along was to move Rosenthal to OT. Coaching staff just needed a false flag (crisis at RT) to sell him on the switch.

Everyone else was honest with him up front about his position. LSU did what it needed to to get him to campus.
