before the kick? miles called a timeout with 3 seconds left. not sure I'm seeing how this is a major gaffe. you might get a hail mary after the kickoff which I suppose is something but still not guaranteed. this is somewhat of a reach.

So you dont see how its better to have 22 seconds than 0 seconds to respond?

In that case this will be my last post to you.

You really arent that dumb, right? You dont see how being up by 7 is more important than by 6 with a second left?

get out of here. the 2 safeties ran into each other. that's a 1 in a million circumstance. the players didn't execute.

Good point. Except with 3 seconds left in the 1st half with 70 something yards to go, you have more than 2 guys playing deep safety, and they should have been playing much deeper.

In general, all coaches make mistakes and after the fact it is easy to second guess a lot of decisions...but what about all the decisions the coaches get right? I believe the correct decisions must far outweigh the wrong decisions for a team to be successful in a given season and for a team to have sustained success like Miles has had here, the bad decisions must be a tiny fraction compared to the correct ones.
My issue is with the "fans" who say things like Les wins because of talent alone or that decision cost us a championship so Les is a bad coach...those tards never understand that it is because of Les that we have that much talent or in a position to even be in a championship conversation.
I would have less of an issue with so many on this board if they criticized Les' decisions but still had a little appreciation for what he's done at LSU...

Thats what we are dealing with l=c.

They still havent grasped the fact that im not complaining about the # of mistakes miles makes to other coaches, but that coaches do make mistakes, which shows sometimes criticism is warranted. That is what the OP is about.

Punt Returns...

2009 Holliday had 20 returns for 362 yards, 18.1 average, 1 TD and a long of 87

2010 Peterson had 26 returns for 418 yards, 16.1 average, 2 TD's and a long of 87

Is Holiday still returning kicks in the freaking NFL?
Does AZ use Peterson on every return?

Miles did admit he wouldve used Peterson in the return game more. But, I mean little #8 running around with a specific role. How could Miles get a bit enamored and not be as open minded as he shouldve. The fan favorite. Hester named his child after him. If this is in the top 9 mistakes he's made, Id say we are in very good hands.

Posted by Message LSU=Champions How dopeople not understand that just because we won the game doesn't mean that the decision wasn't stupid?

Because in the heat of a game things happen and it's not that I don't understand it's that I understand in the heat of a contest with limited time and unable to see all like on tv decisions are made or things overlooked. The decision to throw the pass to Byrd against Auburn in the first place which was viewed as dumb by you and the other daddy pitch coaching fraternity. I on the other hand think it is just plain "chesty"

This is my interpretation of the OP point
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. I dont think hes saying coaches are above criticism. Hell who is? Criticism is everywhere for a coach at any level.

2. What makes people on here actually think they know more than the coaches? What trait is it? IQ, youre a coach yourself, just knowledge as "a student of the game" fan, etc. I mean really now? Let's make sure we are clear?
Why do people on this board think they know better than the coaching staff, you know the professionals?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do u really think that u actually know more about schemes, motivation, or any personnel decisions and what led to those decisions?
Ive got Chavis on one phone explaining why Welter is the best way to go at this time and Ive got Josh336 or Penrod on the other and they want to play someone else that was more touted by 247.
I get to bet 10,000 dollars at even money with Vegas who is about to put a line out on this. hum difficult decision or the easiest Ive had for that kinda return in my life?

There is little question that his two biggest weaknesses are:
1. Game day decisions.. I dont trust him 100% and I love the man. Total appreciation for what he's done for LSU.
2.The way he speaks to the media.... Which will never lose a game for us. btw.

There is so much more to running a program than game day mgt. Is it going to take him leaving here before some of u can take a new, open minded look at things. Follow a legend in January, katrina, then coach against the legend who knows every high school coach in your state, nfl departures, 1/9 Handle all this stress, not run around on your wife, cheat, get caught lying, get a rare disease have a losing season, get beat by ULM. Look around the SEC sound familiar? This thing is a coach killer. Eat or be eaten.
He doesnt blink. He has a whistle in his step every day.
He's turned most of his staff and just puts an excellent team on the field every year? Look around who is doing this? Who has built a better staff?
When all the Huge LA prospects bailed on LSU at the last minute after trolling them all year. The Tiger staff dug deep and worked their butts off and replaced those guys as good as ever hoped for....Family put on hold, upset wives, disapointed kids, maybe they want the job secretly etc.... they had plenty of excuses..... people dont do this for just any boss......

This isnt luck. u can stay in denial if u want, but he's one of the best.

I dont care what leadership position that u are in, u cant fake it and make it. Sooner or later youre lack of leadership skills will catch up with u. When things get rough how are u going to respond? Quit like Urban Meyer: bulldog it, like Richt,Spurrier and Miles?
You only get that great QB for 4 years or that great DC/OC for so long.
Miles is a one in a million; embrace it.

Cringe but chuckle.

I was going to say you cant be that stupid, but clearly you can be.

Point out the post in this thread where any poster said coaches don't make mistakes?

If that child like list you posted is the best you got after nine years, you don't have shite.

Ok buddy. The OP is explaining that the coaching staff always knows better than the fans. Ive provided examples to the contrary. Sorry if you dont want to see them as mistakes.

has anyone said -because the rant! coaches get way too much credit given the time and resources expended to let them "do their magic," it's a learned craft like many others, I'll bet I could transition into Les' job a hell of a lot easier than he could mine
