Top tackles in the NFL in no particular order:

Terron Armstead 6'-5" 300.
Lane Johnson 6'-6" 310.
Taylor Lewan 6' 7" 305.
Joe Staley 6' 5" 310.
Duane Brown 6' 4" 320.
Ronnie Stanley 6' 5" 315.
Andrew Whitworth 6' 7" 330.
David Bakhtiari 6' 4" 310.
Mitchell Schwartz 6' 5" 315.
Trent Williams 6' 5" 315.
Tyron Smith 6' 5" 310.

All these guys are tall, strong, move well and carry no bad weight. This is your prototypical tackle if you can find them for any offense.

If youre going to try to scale down your shite example then you need to actually scale it down. You cant just carry the same weight and height delta and slap it on any height baseline

Not sure why you're getting all upset, I just dont understand why anyone would see someone at 6'6 290 "bigger" than someone 6'4 330. The person at 330 will certainly look bigger, the 6'6 guy obviously taller. The taller someone is the more they can spread weight around. If they are spreading even less weight around than someone shorter, that shorter person will look "bigger".

Less height and more weight = looks bigger

It’s like asking why CBs are so skinny. You already know the answer.

It's all about wingspan. Keep the DE away from your body so he can't get leverage. And you need strength, which means bulk.
Thus you have man-mountains at tackle.

Bigness has gotten out of hand for OTs. An OT who's 290 and quick as a whistle is more valuable than a slowish 340 pd. one, I would think.

not in the SEC West IMHO
and BTW some of those BIG boys are not that sluggish or as you said slowish

It seems like quickness is more important as most defensive ends are fast and about 260 in college.

And if they line up a guy who is too quick and small you run his arse over. The size and strength of the tackle limits how small and fast the DE can be. If you put a 290 pound tackle out there they will counter with a 230 pound DE. You will be racing to the bottom in a race you can't win (Trindon Holiday ring any bells). And as BHP pointed out, the tackle has to be stronger than the DE.

Well, you're right, but for the wrong reasons. 6-4 330# is bigger than 6'6" 290# because 330# IS BIGGER THAN 290#! That's all there is to this.

BTW, there are three dimensions. For some strange reason you guys are fixated on one of those dimensions - the one associated with height.
