When do you take the TO. After gray crosses mid court with 1 second left?

You take the timeout when you get the rebound and get the ball at midcourt

First of all, a timeout should have been called after the first missed free throw to freeze him.
Gray crossed halfcourt with 3 seconds left.

Can't advance the ball in college. Take a timeout and you are in bounding on the baseline against a set defense.

Gray crossed with 2 secs left, you absolutely call a TO either there or right when you get the rebound.

2 secs is PLENTY of time to run a last second sideline play.

Even if we get a TO with 2 seconds left on our side of the court, I'd much rather trying to get a shot off pushing against a defense that isn't totally set in that situation.

No
No no no no no

Every team worth anything has a go to, last second BLOB, SLOB, and full court play for a 3. There is no reason not to call a TO and run our go to SLOB, and if we don't have one then jesus that's terrible

The reason is: it is really hard to get an open 3 from the sideline in under 2 seconds when a 3 is your only option.

You're relegating yourself to a catch and shoot when the defense is switching all screens.

Yea it's going to be really hard either way. Still better to have a set play with a plan rather than just go and hope for the best

Then we have to inbound the ball and we all know that is our specialty.
