This was the absolute best call. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the playbook. The playbook was never the issue. Play calling... yes! Play book... no!

Krag has no doubt dropped a few plays and added a few wrinkles. But that is something that should happen every single year anyway.

and anutta ting....

I think one of Crowton's big problems was predictability. The LSU offense did bad job of self-scouting (if that's the word) over the course of a season to see if they were giving away tendencies. I think that's another reason why production under Crowton consistently tailed down, except in those rare occasions where LSU had a month to prepare and come up with new wrinkles.

That and it gets the RB shoulders square, so it lets Ware use that 230lb frame going downhill. I just hope they don't call those plays when they want to ice the game...I'd rather a simple ISO rather than a taking a risk with a HB toss.

i just don't remember it ever gaining much yardage.. i remember ridley having to go above and beyond to get into the endzone when they ran that against Tennessee to end the game.. thats why i hate it so much.

What the hell were you watching, that play was staple of the offense last season, and went for 3 to 4 yards a carry and a few big runs. It gives the RB the ability to pick and choose his lane with zone blocking up front. you'd know that if you didn't have your head up your on arse so far. :banghead:

At another 200k a year too.

Maybe the "system" is the Les Miles system and everybody just needs to get having no passing attack. Afterall, he is a MI OL from back in the day and they won with a running game and defense.

It isn't designed to score a TD or rip off a huge run every time, and it was very reliable in short yardage situations last year. We converted with it nearly every time.

Yes, we agree. Miles hates to pass the ball.

LSU's offense has changed. Looks to me like they through away all that spread bullshite and went to straight pro style. Not a bad idea with Spencer Ware's performance. I have high expectations for Gore as well after seeing him in the Spring game. I also think our best three guys on the field for receiving could be the two wide outs and peterson. He might not be the best receiver, but he's a good tight end, that can catch and move extremely well for a tight end, and he basically can split out and play a BIG receiver role. I think our personnel fits pro-style really well.

Sorry but that one was on Jimbo's clock and a different offensive philosophy.

Yep, keep up the miles hate mantra, everything that goes right is because of someone else, everything that goes wrong is miles fault.

Was Jimbo the head coach?

Or are you saying Miles doesn't hate passing the ball when he has a competent QB/OC/QB Coach (meaning you disagree with your previous stupid comment)?

Krags was hired when exactly? It was like early February. Not much time to implement an entirely new offense. Just like Crowton kept much of Jimbo's playbook for the first year, Krags will keep much of Crowton's. The only thing that needs changing as far as basic plays is some of the routes need to be re-drawn to spread out the receivers more.

Also, Krags already has implemented some new stuff. For the first time in forever, we ran some HB draws in the spring game. That's new and is a distinct pro-style type of play.

Since Miles gets all the credit, why hasn't he recruited a competent QB in his entire tenure at LSU? Or even developed a decent QB. He is an offensive guy after all or does he even have a specialty area?

Jimbo's playbook was still in use with Russell.

Believe all the BS you want about JJ being a great QB this spring. However, he WILL cost us some games next year if Miles continues his favoritism with JJ and we have no passing game again.

Why would we consider changing when JJ has mastered the current system over the past 3 years?

We got a new OC to get better production out of the offense so why dont we use krag's system? Why cant he establish his own forte in the offense?

Miles isn't going to let any coordinator come in and have autonomy over the offense, just like most head coaches who have a background on offense. We'll always be multiple and you're most likely going to see alot of the same stuff run that we've been running, just hopefully with better execution.
