I don't get it.

The dude has an LSU alumnus as a co-host.

He covers the SEC better than...anyone.

Because of Finebaum, we have a four hour show devoted to SEC Football every weekday of the year! Can you believe that? I would have killed for a program like that in 1998.

Help me understand, please. I promise to be open-minded.

I don't mind him one bit. Dude plays to his ratings. Alabama is king so you play the hits. He had amazing coverage of the floods last week when no other media outlet cared or didn't even know about it. I commend him for that. He had on Spears, Booger, Kaylee, Ben McDonald, Dellinger. Also callers from the area giving their depictions of what they went through.

Alabama Homer.

The majority of the calls he takes are from Bama fans, so he speaks about Bama football more than any other school. If Bama is favored in an upcoming matchup and a caller says Bama will lose, he asks that caller how they arrived at that prediction, then provides facts as to why that caller's prediction doesn't make sense.

That doesn't make him a Bama homer.

Seems better and more diversified this year to me. In past seasons, he was unbearable.

I actually enjoy listening to those knucklehead callers that are clueless to football. That Legend guy who's a Bama fan, and the lady who's an Auburn fan (forgot her name) are so delusional. My favorite caller is the LSU fan from Plano, TX, that brotha keeps it real when it comes to the Tigers.

He thinks there is Bama and nobody else. He calls Saban a God! Jocks the shite out of Saban and Bama and gives nobody else credit for anything

A few years ago he dissed the LSU baseball team after we had gone to SC, the 2 time defending National Champion, and won 2 out of 3 to claim the SEC title. He said he couldn't think of a tile with "less significance". (Of course Alabama finished next to last in the conference that year.) He's a big time Gump Homer who masquerades as a sports journalist. A total piece of shite IMHO...F*ck him and the red horse he rode in on.

He said the Louisiana Wetlands was nothing but a sewer and that was appropriate for the type of people who live in Louisiana. Then, some awesome regular of this site posted a satellite picture of his house in Alabama. Funny shite. And frick him

El Campo, you must have missed the years of him downing LSU, Louisiana, Baton Rouge, and its people. He has great disdain for most things Louisiana especially after his short stint at the Shreveport newspaper that failed back in the early to mid 90's.
He has gone out of his way on many occasions to ridicule Miles, even when we were beating Bama.
Yes, he is a Bama homer or Auburn if they are on top..
He practices yellow broadcasting in that he will agree and grovel when a guest (or caller) until he hangs up the phone and then, when he can't get a rebuttal, he goes off on them.

His show, when it was just local, was actually kind of fun to listen to. But, when a competing (and objective) SEC show came on that divided Finbaum's audience, the local station bought the competing station, shut down their show and put Finbaum on 3 different Birmningham stations to get the market share.

Now having said that, everyone has some good points.

Bama is king of college football so he's going talk about them more. It's smart business. I guarantee you if LSU goes on a historic national championship run he talk LSU all the time.

He was part of and cashed in on the rise of the ESPN-backed effort to make Bama one of the centerpieces of their marketing machine. He is a legitimate opportunist. So good for him.

His Gump bias is the same as the mainstream media's bias for the Progressives.

I did, and this is why I posed the question.

The first I ever heard the man's name was during the Roll Tide/War Eagle ESPN 30 for 30 special. I listened to his radio show on XM Radio starting in 2012 and enjoyed it because it was completely devoted to SEC Football. Then in 2013, the show went on a hiatus and I thought, "Well, I knew that was too good to be true." Later that year he was back on and I was thrilled.

I can understand LSU fans being upset with Finebaum calling Louisiana a "toxic dump" as recent as 2011, but since 2013, I haven't heard him say anything negative regarding LSU. He pivoted towards neutrality because he had listeners all over the country, not just 19 affiliates located in Alabama with a few in Mississippi, Georgia, and one in Slidell.

From my listening history of the man, he knights for LSU whenever the Tiger fan from Plano calls, or when callers from Biloxi or Mobile call to speak about the Tigers, he gives his opinions on LSU, which are usually based on a lot of research performed by him and do not seem clouded by judgment.

I think a lot of LSU fans are still butthurt regarding what he said prior to 2012 (when his show was based out of Birmingham) and should focus on the good he's done since 2013 (when his show became nationally syndicated). Of all the great former Bama players that could have been a co-host on his show, he chose Marcus Spears, and I think he deserves credit if only for that move alone.
