Who's your offensive and defensive MVP so far, and who do we need to step up?

I like Hilliard on the offensive side of the ball, but I see Hill taking charge from here on out. And I like Minter on defense, he's everywhere and seems to be the most consistent.

I also feel that we need our receiving group as a whole to step up, but no real surprise there.

Collins
Mingo

The o line should continue that incredible play. If so then the receivers do need to step up.. Mainly ODB Jr as a player of importance.

Offensive is by far Spencer Ware and La'el Collins IMO.

Defense is Kevin Minter.

And our offense needs is the only thing that needs some tweaking. Gotta convert on 3rd down like we did against USCe. Limit penalties and turnovers as well.

My offensive MVP right now is Josh D for his single game performance against USC. He manhandled the best defensive end in all of college football, who will be the number one overall pick in 2014 draft, in the biggest game of the year for us to this point.

I agree with this. The coaches should make the team watch his performance for motivation.

D: Minter
O: Copeland

We need the receivers to step up. Got to catch the dang ball. Extended drives wear out their d line, helps out our oline.

Offense - Ware. He's been the most consistent, much improved from last year... although Hill is making some noise.

Defense - Sam Montgomery. With Minter a very close second.

Funny. I actually agree with you on this for sure.

But if you talk to most of the people on the Rant, most were saying he is WAY overrated after the third week of the season because he didn't have like 12 sacks already against UNT and Idaho because they did nothing but like step drops.

Minter on D
Dworacyk on O

It's been a revolving door at RB: Blue, Hilliard, Ware and now Hill.

..without Josh D, we are completely frickered on the OL.

Step up:

Reid on D (he's been average to date this year)
Mett on O (we will be fine at RB with whoever is running back there)

I had a hard time choosing between Montgomery and Mingo.

Minter is getting a ton of cred mainly for the Florida game which was beast but IDK about the entire season. Still not a knock on him. I'd have to go back and rewatch the games.

Collins has been the elite anchor on a shifting o-line all season (even at the guard spot). I do like the Ware pick by many as well.

I agree 100%, not a knock on him at all, he has definitely been solid all year but the UF performance put him over the top on everyone's radar.

Defense MVP: Tie btwn Kevin Minter and Sam Montgomery - both have done their part in their own way

Offensive MVP: Running Backs- we don't have that stand-out back that can sustain a drive yet, IMO Ware is improving, and hill has room to throw his name into contention. Hilliard is by far the most productive and proven at this point but he hasn't done a whole lot as of recently. Ford looks like he'll continue to be that "Change of Pace" Back. Overall the running game has won us ball games, great job boys!

monty gets double teamed often while minter ROAMS free. I think that sets Monty above minter.

It is his leadership too

I'm glad you brought up FLA because look who wasn't on the field when they scored...

well statistically Minter has the edge (63 tackles to sam's 21 and they are tied for tackles for loss). if you are refering to in-game presence, however, then Sam wins hands down. the amount of attention he demands allows other players to step in and do their job. If i'm not mistaken though, awards are based heavily on production

Collins has my vote on offense. He is flat mauling guys.

On defense, it is without a doubt Minter.

As for who needs to step up, it would be great if any receiver does so. I don't care which one.

Defensively, I don't have any lingering complaints. The freshmen, all of them, have played well. Too bad Kwon got hurt.

ST, Wing needs to start playing like it's 2011 again.
