I agree

and I think Brooks can catch on somewhere too. That's just a sick group unlike I ever remember seeing.

He has been showing up on STs.

But being 6'3'' with a huge wingspan and fast hips on a CB does equal potential.

Maybe in 1997.

The NFL is moving to bigger, rangier cornerbacks.

Scouts are going to be erect for Simon's measureables.

Because of his size and athletic ability he can take a way even great throws. You know how they say a great throw can beat great coverage. Potentially he could even take some of that away. Like in the NFL when the DB is right on WR hip and using the side line so that only a perfectly thrown over the outside shoulder pass could be thrown. He could even negate that with his length against most wideouts. He is still raw and can improve with technique but I think he has the highest upside.

Definitely.

Buddy of mine who was at the game and could watch the coverage down field said that Claiborne was the third best CB on our defense (even though he said Claiborne was blanketed his guy)

Claiborne is the #2 corner on McShay's board right now.

For the 2012 draft.

If he out grows corner, yes. But right now he is too good at corner. Did you say the same about PP?

but you are sold on Simon after 1 start?

makes sense.

Not what I said. Simon's placement is based on potential. I thought this was a predictive exercise. The NFL will salivate over his size. Mo has speed and decent size. I'm not dogging him. And I think if he shows out more this year, he'll be up there. I think Simon, Claiborne and Reid can all be first rounders. I think Mathieu will be a second or third rounder strictly due to his size.

Probably Reid.

Think about this. Dre has been slobbered over, and I think he's a second rounder, but everyone else calls him a rd1 lock. Simon has shown better coverage, has better measureables, and seems to be just as physical.

I haven't seen enough of Simon yet to know that he has NFL corner hips. And I'm not sure how any of y'all have either. But I think Eric Reid is a future Pro-Bowl safety.

I get what you are saying but I don't see that. Yes if he was 6'1 he would probably be taken top 5. But the dude is a playmaker and a damn good cover corner and tackler even with his size.

Claiborne, Simon, Reid and Loston I'm that order.

Claiborne and Reid are interchangeable.

My favorite is TM7 but his size may work against him in the draft and typecast him as a nickle in the NFL.

Ask Brent Grimes of the Falcons how that height is affecting him. Dude is a small, but a hell of a corner.

I agree about Reid. As far as Simon goes, in the limited time we have seen him he has only been picked on once and then later made that team pay. Every other time that I can think of he has been in damn near perfect coverage. Even in the Cotton bowl when he was matched up against Jeff Fuller. Fuller was atleast making some tough plays and getting first downs against Peterson. But when they switched and put Simon on him for what ever reason it worked. And you didn't really hear from him the rest of the game. And the few times they did try to throw at that match up. He was there to swat it away or forced a throw away. The point is from what he has shown and given his measurables, by the time he leaves here he should be a really good CB.
