You are so right. Can't believe I forgot him.
And to further make H-Town's point about retards who say '05 Texas was a 1-man team without knowing what the frick they're talking about, besides Vince Young, that team had 3 1st-team All-Americans, 2 3rd teamers, and the Jim Thorpe Award winner.

Not 100% sure Carroll would be successful at LSU, or at several SEC schools. I do know his losing to average teams would bring some serious heat here regardless of how many games he has won.
PC has been successful with a combination of style, charisma, Southern California culture, very little recruiting competition with a massive pool to choose from.
Hard to say how that would translate here.

The comparison here was between Carroll and Miles. How many games did Miles lose to average teams last year alone? When is the last time Carroll has lost more than 2 games in a season?
Carroll>>>>>>>>>>>>Miles
I think along with Meyer he has to be considered the best coach in the last decade.

Does anyone really believe that if LSU was to hire Carroll recruiting wouldnt be better?

The key is the consistency with which they do it

Really this point is mute. Like Carroll is really going to leave southern California to live in Baton Rouge!

Alas poor HTT, you have again proven your consistancy at misunderstanding what you read. Your so-called "points" were in fact mis-guided missiles in response to "facts" that you apparently failed to grasp. We agree in fact that the Media did what they do in '05, labeling the two BCS finalist, just as I stated, along the lines of Best Ever and One-man team. (Thanks for reinforcing my point BTW). Remember that no one stated they were not both excellent teams. In point of fact I myself pulled for 'SC to win that game but they came up a bit short. You have the right to believe that PC's fame has not been spread in part by being a media darling. But understand that I am in the majority that believe PC has been placed on a pedestal. He is an outstanding coach,(remember no one disputed that) but saying I'd just as soon take my chances with Lesticles is not a crime. Would I desert the team I've followed for several decade if PC became the Tigers mentor tomorrow? Certainly not. Would welcome him with open arms just as I have the last nine or so. Anyway, it's been great fun but duty calls. TTFN.

like Kentucky in 2007? or Florida in 2003? UAB in 2000? ULM in 2007?

Seems to be an annual occurance with PC. U$C should have been in the NCG more than once twice with their talent. They stumbled on some very average opposition.
I am not sure recruiting would be better at LSU with Carroll than with Miles. I am in no way a Les Miles apologist, one area he has done well in is recruiting (relatively)
Its player development I have questions about. Carroll has a much different approach to practice, preparation than Miles does. I like Carrolls method, though it leads to injury often.
But, no...I think recruiting advantange would be negligable.

Quite true but their is a difference between losing to an unranked team when your team is recognized to be in a rebuilding season and doing so when your team is loaded every season the way USC is. I mean really, when has USC not been expected to contend for the NC since Carroll has been at the helm? In contrast, Georgia certainly was not expected to be NC material this season so if we get upset by an unranked team, I doubt many would be too surprised.

What were Ark and Ky in our championship year.
What about Ark, Ole Miss, and Ga last year. None of those teams were as good as we made them.
The 6 points at AU are nothing to hang your hat on in 2006.
Most every program suffers some let down to a lesser team, and the spread offenses are equalizing the playing field like no other time in history.
I take Carroll, he brings a sense of energy, hires great assistants(how many of his coordinators have moved on to better gigs? Chow, Sark, Kiffin?) and wins football games.

So it would be better if he had an 8-5 year.......to rebuild.
Who in the hell wants to be in the national spotlight every year. Better to have very low expectations.

he media labeled USC the best team ever, I do not recall anyone but morons that post on the internet of call talk radio refer to Texas as a one man team. If you proof, link it, other wise stfu. In any event Texas was not a 1 man team as I and Hot Carl have pointed out. The trouble is too many idiots judge a team based on offensive skill players and there USC had more big names.
If you do not think Texas was a 1 man team, then using that and the best team label makes no sense in critiquing PC. If you used those labels to criticize the media, then it would make sense.

Of course its not. Back it up with some kind of rational argument not just silly cheap shots at PC for not living up to the standards others have placed on him.

I would hope so he is a great coach. But to be honest, I'd rather have a new up and comer the next time we are looking for a new coach. Like Spurrier was when we he to UF or Saban to LSU etc.

How do you know Carroll would be successful at LSU? PC and U$C seem to be a very good combination. Not sold his act would work at LSU. Carroll would not be able to recruit at LSU like he does at $C.
Carroll is a fine big game coach, but not a spectacular week in, week out head coach.
What makes you think Carroll would be successful at LSU? I think U$C made Carroll as much as Carroll made U$C.

And Miles is????

He would bring the same kind of talent that Les has and would do more with it.

I think Saban made LSU and Miles took it from there. Remember, USC was garbage when Pete got there, Miles had a loaded program when he got here.

Ther reason it seems to happen to USC every year is that they are never rebuilding. It is better to go 11-2 and be in the NC hunt and lose to a mediocre team like UCLA than to go 8-5 or 9-4 like LSU and Florida did after NC seasons.
The trouble with they should have won more with the talent they have argument that it down plays the talent other teams have. USC is more consistent, but they do not have more talent that Florida, Texas, LSU, in certain seasons. They are in the hunt every year.

i would take pete, dont even have to think about it.
anybody who says he couldnt do well in the SEC is just stupid or needs to take the SEC glasses off.
