of course the definition of "athlete" is not a solid one. And the first post doesn't define "athlete," so we're not get get anywhere.

But I think the notion that 40 time + bench reps + maybe vertical leap or something = athleticism is off. There is more to it.

Things like quickness, coordination, explosiveness, agility, endurance are outside of those numbers. Now, these might actually be able to be measured as well, but they aren't being brought up or brought up much in this thread.

Why was Korte not an All American?

at a time.

but Spears was a great basketball player.

he was 6-3

a 6-6 center is short

a 6-3 small forward is really short

On page 9, he tries to mock my suggestion of Faneca by bringing up Whitworth's 40 time and Herm Johnson. So, sorta, yeah.

I'm curious if Moffit gets credit from SFP for Keiland dropping back down to 221.

Slow, have you ever seen a 6'7 360 pound unathletic guy? I'm sure you have.

You're telling me that those kind of guys could be 3 year starters in the SEC?

Yeah but one can be athletic without being a freak. To say Herm wasn't athletic is a pretty big insult to the guy.

fricking Kige isn't athletic. Herm is.

Isn't being a dominant lineman athletically freakish enough?

herm was pretty dominant and he was nowhere close to being a freak athlete

We haven't had many freaks like Jim Spell (Chicago Bears), Calvin Johnson (Lions), or Vernon Gholston (Jets).

I always thought Dalton Hilliard was a rare freak. He had those huge thighs and could change direction so fast he left defenders picking up their socks.

JaMarcus Russell was a borderline freak.
