The hiring of Miles was contingent upon him bringing Jerry Rice in to be the WR coach, but that never happened. That is where it all fell apart.

Who really knows. Skip greatly limited search.

JDR wanted job. Asked agent if he had contacted owner as contract required and agent said no. JDR said postphone until owner notified and Skip refused. Fact

Saban reportedly recommended HDN as his replacement when he took the Miami job.

I was available but chose not to be interviewed ... never be the man to follow the legend (be the next guy). I'll reconsider once the job opens again.

The real question is who will be available after this season.

Well, he said Jack Del Rio and Bobby Petrino. I said those two were employed at the time, so if THEY were available, I guess EVERYONE was available. Every coach in America. Whether employed by another school, team, broadcasting network, or unemployed.
---
And for those that wish it had been Petrino, why??? JDR I could see, but Petrino??? Let him prove something first...and no, he hasn't.
---
A lot of people truly think Gruden would do it. He won't. Get over it.
A lot of people think Spurrier would do it. He won't. Get over it. (And he wouldn't be an improvement at this stage)
Not everyone wants to be the coach at LSU. Not everyone wants to be a coach again. Just because the job was open didn't mean we could get whomever we wanted. A lot of people should think about that before calling for our coaches head on a platter.
---
Who cares who WAS available when Miles was hired? The question is, who is going to be his replacement if he gets fired/quits/retires/whatever?? I have seen this question posed here before, but have never seen a reasonable answer. And like I said, Spurrier is not a reasonable answer for myriad reasons.
