Berry stays at third. The few problems he’s had are survivable.

With the exception of Morgan, this is correct.

He’s been pretty shaky too. We’d be going for a sweep today if not for that ole’ on Thursday

Okay who are you gonna put there?
Posted on 4/2/22 at 7:09 am to Gaspasr1
You still didn’t put anyone at 3rd

You take your cleanup hitter out of lineup for merrifield? Really?

Defensively? Absolutely. Offensively? Absolutely not.
As has been pointed out, you need Berry and Jobert in the lineup. You live with the errors for the sake of the bat. Especially if you think Jobert doesn’t fit defensively.
I think Morgan is too good to move, but for the sake of discussion, one option is to bring Dugas in to 3rd (he was a really good SS in HS), throw Morgan in left and slide Berry over to 1st.

Merrifield is better defensively, but it’s too big of a trade off at the plate and you can’t have two designated hitters.

Merrifield is better defensively,
Berry was a .82 fielding % at Arizona and has a .915 here. TERRIBLE.

Berry has also made several really nice plays.
He’s 100% serviceable at 3rd. Keep it.

.915 isn’t serviceable. Not in the least. That is weak. Hell, .938 at SS isn’t serviceable and that is what Thompson did last year. That is bad play. Bianco was a .99% fielder with over 120 tries. That is what you’re looking for up the middle.

Anybody know Doughty's fielding percentage last year at 3rd?

Bench Gio, Berry to DH, Jobert to RF

I didn’t see a replay, and I was watching on an iPhone. My impression was a rocket that he couldn’t get a glove on. Based on my poor perspective, I would not have called it an error, but I’ve read one here a lot of folks who thought it was. And many of them probably saw it on a TV in slow motion. Did Morgan fail to get in front of it because of lack of technique, or was it too far away and too fast to block it?
