Not really. The record was better, as was the defense, but the offense was much worse and the overall execution and fundamentals were worse, IMO. There's no reason to believe the offense will improve, with far less experience. Shoot, we lost some of the key starters that prevented the offense from being even worse than it was.

I think the defense will prevent us from being humiliated, but I have no faith in the offense, the coaching staff or the team in general. I hope they do well, obviously, but knowing who's at the helm just takes all the air out of the upcoming season for me, for the first time in my life.

The offense I am optimistic about...we have the talent its the offensive coaching....we need to get rid of the offensive coaches except the running back and wide receivers coach...the defense looks great!!! Besides we have the best DB in the country LINK

The offense was worse but that was mostly due to poor o-line play and no running game. We were in every game and never blown out like we were a few times in '08. The defense was a hell of a lot better and the team overall played better.

The playcalling left something to be desired and i think that made the team look worse at times then they really were. But the team was definitey better in '09 than in '08. The '08 team would've lost a couple of those close games last year.

I'm optimistic because of yesterday. The main weakness was the O-Line and it looked to be vastly improved with Blackwell, Lonergan and Hurst. It has been a long time since I've seen such O-Line blocking. You could actually see holes opened up. They will only get better as they work together as a unit. Thank you Ben Wilkerson.

that and the fact that the RB's were running hard. Ford looks like a monster of a back. I think we will be in the hunt for a NC this season with 2011 looking even better.

Some people need to look up the definition of "almost". I never said every.

I have stated for those that can't read that we will be a BETTER football team than last year. The problem is I don't expect everything to work out as well as it did for LSU last year.

Example. Do you expect to beat our very first opponent like we did last year if we allow them to out gain us the way Washington did?

That is just an example of some of the luck of the bounce that we had last year. I hope it happens again (the luck of the bounce) but to rely on luck to have a good season isn't very sounds.

Do you realize with just a little bad luck we would have only won three games last year!

Maybe...it's not that rare of a feat.

So basically you're saying LSU was lucky to win the games they did except for Auburn, ULL, and Tulane. Jesus...

omegaman66,
don't listen to me....blackjackjackson

and, if lsu wins, please keep posting about how they won't do it the next year.

by the way, is lsu playing the nfl, or a bunch of teams that have as many kids as the tigers? or which teams have more winning coaches?

dumbmann66, it's called college football for a reason.

I think we lose 2 or 3, but are still in contention for the SEC Western Division crown until the final week of the season, and with a little luck we end up in Atlanta.

I think every team in the West will have issues, and thus no one team will run away with the title. I see next year's SEC Western division race shaping up to be like the SEC West race was in 2002.

The 2010 season is going to be fun!

I'm not optimistic, I'm confident LSU will compete for the SEC title in 2010 and the National title in 2011. Jefferson will be fine with a good rushing attack and the pass rush on D will be much improved. Drake Nevis and Kelvin Sheppard didn't play in the spring game, they will lead the rushing defense this year in the middle. And LSU will have the best special teams in the SEC. Russell Shepard will be a candidate for SEC offensive player of the year and Patrick Peterson will be a candidate for SEC deffensive player of the year. Craig Loston will be a candidate for the SEC freshman of the year. I also believe LSU will have the most SEC All- Americans in both 2010 and 2011.
