Mullen by a lot

Alex Smith

Tim Tebow

Tyler Russell broke passing yards and TD records at Miss St

Dak then broke Russell's passing yards and TD records, and total yards and total TD records

He actually made Nick Fitzgerald (who was a high school, run 90% of the time QB), look halfway decent as a passer in his one year he started with him. He actually broke records Dak broke.

He then went to UF and made Franks look halfway decent in his one year starting

He then takes Trask, a guy that was a career backup in high school, and make him 3rd in passing yards and passing TDs in the conference, in only 12 games, his first and only year starting.

Tim Tebow and Feleipe Franks are literally the only 2 QBs he had with any decent talent coming into college. EVERYBODY else he has coached has gone on to produce great seasons, break school records, and even 2 started/start multiple years in the NFL.

Thank God O figured out the QB position is the priority position because like I've said, my guy was Dan Mullen back when they fired Miles.

Mullen does a slightly better job of developing them for college football. He does more with less than Jimbo does.

I don't think Mullen does much to prepare them for the NFL though.

Mullen isn't here to make NFL QBs, that's up to the NFL. It's the same reason why neither Nick Saban nor Urban Meyer had a QB worth a flip go to the NFL outside of Alex Smith (the one Dan coached).

Mullen probably has the best odds going fwd at FL, but I wouldn’t count Jimbo out yet with the right kid.

That's true, but that thought also supports what many on this thread have already said: Jimbo needs "the right kid." Mullen's college QB's have generally done well even though they weren't necessarily "the right kid."

Well, honestly, the biggest part of developing a QB is identifying him first.

Mullen torched us with a guy who hadn't taken a meaningful snap in three years.

Mullen's QBs vs LSU

2012 Tyler Russell 26/38 295 yards 1 TD 1 int
2014 Dak Prescott 15/24 268 yards 2 TD, 22 car 105 yards 1 TD
2015 Dak Prescott 34/52 335 yards 1 TD, rush TD (this was the year that he lost his entire starting OL in the previous offseason and almost the whole game he just did 3 step drops)
2017 Nick Fitzgerald 15/23 180 yards 2 TD, 14 car 88 yards 2 TD
2019 Kyle Trask 23/39 310 yards 3 TD 1 int

This is how you know Felipe Franks is a turd. Even Mullen couldn't shine him.

If Mullen had Franks from jump, he could have developed him into a superstar QB. The same could be said with Brandon Harris. I said of each one of these guys, while they were in high school, that they needed at least two years to develop.
