Chris Petersen has no ties to the south, but if Washington has a break-out year (as some are predicting) in his third year there when he's got his guys in the program, it would be pretty obvious at this point that the guy can flat out coach.

Seriously doubt he would leave, though. He seems to like the area up there. Also, we'd need to keep someone like Orgeron in place for a couple years to direct recruiting. Not sure we could do that.

Petersen wouldn't be a name at the top of our list, though. Just a guy to think about.

I wonder if LSU would give Frank Wilson any serious consideration this soon. Maybe a courtesy interview.

I think our fanbase wants to see balance. I don't think anyone wants to abandon the run, especially with the RBs we tend to sign.

I don't think anyone in their right mind would come into LSU and completely abandon the run, with the type of athletes and high school offenses we have in this state.

Peterson is not a great recruiter, has a sick child who has doctors up there, and he has no ties to the South.

It just wouldn't happen.

This isn't meant as a slight to Wilson at all as I was hoping that Les could maintain the program for 4 years or so and Wilson would have success and take over, but if we are seriously considering Frank Wilson, something went terribly wrong.

I agree. It took everything to convince him to leave Boise for Washington. No way he comes down here.

It was obvious at Boise State that Petersen can coach. Washington is also apparently his dream job. He isn't leaving Washington.

I'm all in for Aranda if Herman and Jimbo say no.

Obviously, yes.

If LSU has to go down their wish list to their 5th or 6th guy, something is going wrong either way.

And the turnaround will likely take much longer than anyone hopes. Keep in mind, we probably aren't going to be that good next year anyway.

Wilson shouldn't be in our top 50.

He hasn't proven anything as a coordinator or head coach. The only thing we know he can do is recruit. That is it.

I don't want Wilson.

Just throwing names out. Who knows what our cheap arse administration will do.

I'm okay with this, but you essentially have to have an OC in mind if you go this route. Who do we get as an OC?

Frost, Meacham?

I'm sure there's lots of NFL guys that none of us are even considering for all of these positions, as well.

The idea was for Miles to be successful for 3-4 more years, then I'd be fine with Aranda taking over. We'd be thrusting him in there pretty quickly.

Hypothetically speaking, if Aranda is the next guy, it would be nice for him to take over mid-season to get a test drive.

I'm not going to poke fun at you, but I have to ask...why?

Why would you be willing to hire that Grade-A prick of a coach who left the SEC with egg on his face?

I think he is one of the better quarterback coaches in the country, but is it really worth it to take him with all of his baggage?

I couldnt care less that he's a prick.

The guy got canned because he had a young little blonde on the side and lied about it. I'm going to guess most of the guys on this board would be proud to have been in that position.

I dont want an NFL guy who is going to jump back at the first opportunity a la Bill O'Brien.

If he's a good coach and can guide us through the next 3 years (which are going to be a lot trickier than people on this board seem to think) smoothly, I would have no problem with it.

And Bill O'Brien's situation at Penn State obviously wouldn't be the same as the guy taking over at LSU.
