Whoever will put the team in the best position to win is who I want. With that being said, does Johnson edge out Finley this week and get the nod?

ZVR.

But seriously, while TJ is immensely talented, I would take some pressure off and start Max this week but have TJ run at least the third drive in the 1st half.

Commit to playing them both. Nothing wrong with giving them alternate series, at least for a half.

Funny how Tj was the next Jamarcus Russell now everyone wants Max because he had ONE good drive in a blowout.

This is hilarious

The better guy will show himself so it’s all speculation right now. Without Brennan for sure now we will see both guys enough to figure out who the better player is.

I think the real question is which offensive line will show up. Don’t matter who you have back there if our line performs like last time.

How would Johnson get the nod if his on covid restrictions? He didn't beat him out when he was practicing every day, do you think he will beat him out being quarantined for 2 weeks? Really wow

Can’t wait to see how long it takes this thread to go racial. Eventually it’s going to be the black kid vs the white kid.

WOW that’s a great idea. I wonder if the coaches think about that when making the decision.

I would put the guy out there who has alreay had his oh shite moment and hard knocks over the guy who hasnt.

Matt Corall threw 6 pics three games ago. He has thrown for 1000 yds and a buttload of TDs since... people learn lessons from bad performances. If they keep repeating bad play then move on to next

I'm with you. Except I would do it every other series with TJ getting the first two.

Playing both is scrapped under the following (i.e. if TJ is playing well):
A) His throw are on target
B) He's not bailing out of pocket w/o real pressure AND not hurrying throws (not late, not too early- in rhythm w/receivers).
C) He's spotting pressure most of the time and adjusting accordingly, i.e. he's got a feel for what he's looking at.

If those aren't happening, we're going to have to manufacture confusion for Odom by constantly changing looks instead of our preferred "we're ready to use our reads to counter anything you do".

TJ gets the benefit of the doubt simply because he's displayed more accuracy and a better grasp of our normal (i.e. the one run in practice) offense in a game situation.

Odom runs a zone. That means picking them apart is going to be the order of the day. Not "establishing the run". With a zone you have all 11 guys looking at the backfield. That makes running the ball that much more difficult, RPO more effective, and their LBs (some really good ones) are the keys more than the S. Hence my lean towards the QB with the best accuracy and chemistry with the WRs.

Is this the thread where we all come in and say the white guy should start?

I'm old enough to remember when TJ played well in the South Carolina game and the rant crowned his arse. Now we're on to Johnson based on 1 good drive against backups.

I'm going ahead and getting on the AJ Aycock train before the rest of you groupies jump on the bandwagon when Johnson throws a pick

TJ got flustered in a big start he didn’t have two weeks to prepare for. Auburn is a hard place to play. People on here were begging for Max to get in before halftime.
