That dude absoluetly will be in the lineup most of the time.

He belongs in the "mainstay" category IMO, whether he's in the field or DHing. That bat is too valuable.

I really would like a Laird/STEVENSON/Foster outfield.

The question is, will we be able to find the gaps and bunt with some consistency?

Will probably see a variation of

Bregman/Ibarra/Moore or Hale

I would not be shocked at all if Bregman hits in the 4 hole a couple of games if Mainieri can find someone to hit behind Alex. Having Bregman protecting Ibarra would be huge.

I think Moore/Chinea/Foster are all candidates to fill in at the 4 or 5 spots, depending on where Mainieri wants Ibarra.

He's said he has decided against Stevenson in leadoff even though he's built for it. He doesn't want him to have that pressure on him, and McMullen seems to do well in that spot.

My shot at the opening day lineup. This guess is based only on Mainieri's comments to date. Foster in the 8-hole would be #RakeCity

_ B/T Cl. Player Pos.
1) L/L Sr. Sean McMullen DH
2) L/L So. Mark Laird RF
3) R/R So. Alex Bregman SS
4) R/R Sr. Christian Ibarra 3B
5) L/R Jr. Tyler Moore C
6) L/L So. Andrew Stevenson CF
7) R/R Jr. Conner Hale 1B
8) R/R Jr. Jared Foster LF
9) R/R Fr. Kramer Robertson 2B

Bullpen and Catcher defense are my worries. That lineup is STAAACCKEED.

My thoughts exactly. And we have a few different lineup options we can plug and chug until we find the right mix.

We have a ton of lefties, and I feel he's not going to want to have that many hitting consecutively. Mainly for late inning bullpen matchups.

McMullen hits for more power so I see him batting 5 or 6.

I think one place we may see back to back lefties is 1-2. Some combo of laird/Stevenson/McMullen

A top 6 something like

Laird
Stevenson
Breg
Moore
Ibarra
McMullen

That's closer to what I actually would have (see my post in the big thread). I agree with you.

Are we sure that Tyler Moore has the catcher spot locked up. I had heard good things about Chinea and I thought the staff really like his bat. With baseball though, the situation is so fluid.

As of the end of last week Mainieri stated that Moore has the edge over Chinea and Chinea has the edge over Scivicque

You realize if you put Moore right behind here (which isn't a stretch at all), you'll have consecutive lefties just like you're saying he won't do?

I'd rather have Bregs and Ibarra back to back.
